Lawmakers will hire someone within a week to investigate whether Governor Sarah Palin abused her power in firing Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan. The legislative council approved 100,000 dollars for the investigation that will find out whether Palin was angry at Monegan for not firing an Alaska State Trooper who went through a messy divorce with Palin's sister.

If what I'm hearing this morning is true, McSame has actually picked her.

4. I know. I just posted a similar link about her. I guess poor McNut
doesn't have any GOOD choices!

If I were on his side, I'd probably suggest that lady from Ebay. Fiorino???? Not that I LIKE her so much, but she sounds competant, intelligent & strong in any of the speeches of interviews I've seen.

7. Meg Whitman, Ebay.
Carly Fiorino, HP.

Neither has any government experience and the "run government like a business" meme is more than a little tattered these days.

8. the article is dated 7.28.08...
Have they picked an investigator?

They said it would take "several months" to determine whether there was any wrongdoing.

The legislative council voted 12-0 to investigate...

10. I hope this is so.
She is the most helpful choice he could make for his ticket. McLame must think women will vote against their interests because he has a woman on the ticket. Doesn't he realize that most of the "disaffected Hillary voters" were Republicans to begin with? I like his choice. I hope this is true. Everyone will feel so much safer with a one term governor who abuses her power as the person to take over when McCain follows his father and grandfather to an early (heart attack) grave. :sarcasm:

11. CREW:Alaska's Governor now facing ethics-related probe

It's never a dull moment in Alaska. You may recall that all three members of Alaska's Congressional Delegation, Senator Ted Stevens, Senator Lisa Murkowski and Rep. Don Young, made CREW's list of the most corrupt members of Congress, Beyond DeLay.

Now, the relatively new Governor, Sarah Palin, is in hot water and may be facing a legislative investigation. Via the ever informative Anchorage Daily News:

Alaska Senate leaders want an investigation of whether Gov. Sarah Palin pressured and then fired the public safety commissioner because he wouldn't get rid of a state trooper who had gone through a bitter divorce with Palin's sister.

"I'm fairly confident at this point that what we're going to see is the appointment of an independent investigator," said Anchorage Democratic Sen. Hollis French, chairman of the judiciary committee.

Palin denied any wrongdoing Monday and said she welcomed an investigation.

"I've said all along, hold me accountable," Palin told reporters in Juneau. "And I'm telling the truth when I say that there was never pressure put on Commissioner Monegan."

The governor said she didn't think any conversations she, her husband, Todd, or members of her administration had with the commissioner about Mike Wooten should have been taken as pressure to get rid of the trooper.

13. I'm torn
and don't want to be flamed as a concern troll, but I'm not sure about this pick yet. On the one hand, Old Man McSame has made this all too easy for us, picking an inexperienced governor with serious ethics issues who is one-step away from the Presidency. No foreign policy experience whatsoever.

On the other hand, I question how easy it is going to be to push the "change" mantra when the neocons VP pick is a female governor from the state farthest away from Washington and our pick is a white male who's been in the senate for decades. We need to push this ethics investigation HARD!!!

GoBama!
