US sends flagship to Georgia, plans $1B in aid TBILISI, Georgia - A U.S. Navy flagship loaded with aid steamed through the Dardanelles on Wednesday en route to Georgia, as the Bush administration prepared to roll out a $1 billion economic aid package for the former Soviet republic. Another billion spent on another country. When will we start spending on our own needs—infrastructure, education, economic stimuli that actually work? How about bringing our troops home, so that we can have a peace dividend to spend on those things?—Caro
