Does anybody have a clue as to why Colin Powell may be a witness at the trial of Ted Boeing Stevens?

The witness include his longtime friend and fellow World War II veteran, Sen. Daniel Inouye, D-Hawaii, and three other Senate peers: Democrat Patrick Leahy of Vermont, Republican Orrin Hatch of Utah and Democrat Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts. Former Secretary of State Colin Powell is also on the list. It wasn't clear Monday whether the men are witnesses for the defense or the prosecution.

I've seen a few articles on this today and none of them say why or which side he and the others will be called for.

2. to try to claim that Stevens' records are protected due to

national security????

3. i don't know because they won't say if they are being called by the defense or the prosecution.

if he's being called for the defense then yeah i can understand it.
