Russia's Growing Military Ties to Venezuala
"As two visiting Russian bombers left Venezuela Thursday, officials of both countries said the visit is just the start of a new chapter in a flourishing strategic alliance."

Just curious: Why aren't we hearing more about this? Can you say...nuclear subs? I know Malloy has been talking about it. Who else has been talking this up as a serious and significant development just a short distance from the USA?

2. Why exactly is Russia not supposed to do this?
Aircraft and Naval military visits and joint maneuvers are a long standing tradition by great powers of all sorts. It is quite common. We do it all the time, right on Russia's borders.

I can say nuclear subs. Can you say 'what is your point'?

4. Point is that I didn't say they shouldn't!
In this society, we deserve to know what's going on around us. Or, perhaps the missiles in Cuba didn't bother you either? Or were you even around then?

7. Case in point
You do know that their missiles went to Cuba because our missiles went to Turkey and because we were threatening Cuba with military attack? That the resolution of the crisis included a secret agreement for us to remove our nuclear missiles from Turkey and to guarantee not to invade or attack Cuba?

We rarely know what is actually going on around us, and yes I most certainly do remember that shaky scary week.

Our nuclear subs are all over every ocean as are theirs. That is the point of nuclear subs. They could be anywhere.

3. Are you worried the Russians will attack the USA?
I think they are smarter than that. Why would you assume they want a war with us? That is the logic of right wingers that fear everything possible.

5. Russia doesn't want or need war with us - we are destroying ourselves better than they could
Significant development, but its nothing more than posturing while we circle the drain.

6. True enough!
Like your sig. quote, by the way. I've used it a lot, even in newspaper ads.
