Rasmussen: Americans want leftist or Keynesian bailout plan...
http://www.gallup.com/poll/110746/Americans-Favor-Congressional-Action-Crisis.aspx

Summary: They want action, but see Bush-Paulson plan as deeply flawed.

I think Barack Obama, Barney Frank, Bernie Sanders, Nancy Pelosi, and a bunch of economists need to sequester themselves in a room for a couple of days and write a bill that will save Wall Street without crippling Main Street.

12. Leave Paulson out of it
He's one of the cunts that got us in this pickle. He deserves a long prison term and seizure of all his assets, nothing more.

2. Yup. MAJOR opportunity for them.
There's even a catchy name for it.

The Bottom-Up Bailout.

3. The bill does save Wall Street without crippling Main Street
It actually saves Main Street from crippling.

6. Maybe Wall Street needs to look alot different. Spain and another country
nationalized banks today. Maybe we should too.

7. We do need a bank holiday like FDR did in 1933.
Edited on Mon Sep-29-08 09:35 PM by roamer65
We have to find the solvent banks and shore them up, while closing the insolvent ones in an orderly manner.
Then we need federal gov't jobs programs to fight the coming recession/depression.

8. Yup, you got it. It's time for "New Deal 2008".

I like "Bottom Up Bailout" a lot as a name for it - good one!

Just go in the archives, dust off those FDR laws, and modernize. Bingo, 90% done.

We've "been here, done this" before, and we have a path to follow out of it.

9. Just as the majority of Americans want universal health care
and want social security to be kept out of wall street

and want the govt to stop telling people if they can use marijuana to deal with medical issues

and want accountability from defense contractors

and want abortion decisions to be made by a woman, her loved ones and her doctor, but want access to reliable and safe birth control in order to make abortion an unnecessary discussion.

and want to manufacture goods here and make a living wage for working a 40 hour week

and Congress and the media seem to have finally been put into a position in which it is impossible for them to ignore that the American people do not support the corporatist agenda - but the only part you'll hear about in the media is the bail out.

11. Possible with a controlled non-Socialist name
Like the American Economic Freedom Security Act or Securing American Economy Against Enemies Act
New memes not mentioning Socialism, making it impossible for the right to refuse.

Probably worth its own thread.
