If you're comparing this to the financial mess, and the gunshot wound surgery is the bailout, what's the ankle injury analogous to?

32. The bailout is the ankle
The gunshot wound is the fact that rich people control this country at our expense. A few get rich, everyone else gets poor.

Does no one see the economic pattern that is so obvious to me?

For decades Americans seem prosperous, but actually most of us are up to our ears in debt, a few missed checks away from real family crisis. Every so often the house of cards falls, average Americans realize how poor they really are, and the rich buy up everything, our property, our labor, for cheap.

Then the system is "fixed" so that the process may begin anew.

It took a great depression to get the New Deal. It will probably take another for any real change to happen here.

6. And You're Doing The Right Thing.
What those well meaning but ignorant people don't realize is that if the bucket goes dry, people will die, and that the hole is small enough that even though it's leaking, you can keep it full enough to sustain. But in the time it would take you to fix the hole, too many people would die due to the bucket being dry for far too long.

Kudos for continuing to put water in the bucket patriot.

114. too bad the bottle is made in China from noxious plastics that leach chemicals into the bottom 10%
of the water. The top 90% of the water is just fine, but will quickly be swigged down by fat camels who originally contracted the water bottle manufacturers. Even if we stop up the leak, the water is still poison.

And yes, it sounds dumb.

But, if it's the foreclosure crisis that you're likening to the broken ankle, I'd elevate it to a compound fracture of the pelvis. It's crippling, but the gunshot wound is still going to get treated first.

Sure, there's no guarantee the additional legs would've ultimately saved him. But it very well may have bought him the time he needed to escape. Sad fact is, we'll never know because the idiot took too long askin damn questions and being an obstructionist instead of chuckin the legs in there and buying him the time he needed to plot his escape.

Sad part is, that while he was being an obstructionist and wasting time, his wife bled to death from the crocs that were chompin on her too. Selfish fucker.

52. The question missing from your response
where do the other legs come from? Is everyone else in the village supposed to chop of a leg and toss it in? Who is to stop them all from bleeding to death from these impromptu amputations?

In this case, I think it is more a matter of having one leg in the crocs mouth, and thinking to ourselves "Ive got this other leg as yet still working. Maybe if I bait this bastard croc with the good one, he will leave off the mangled leg and spend some time chomping on this good one instead, thus giving me time to put some bandaids on my leg" Sure it solves one problem momentarily, but in the end it just ends up with twice as many perforations. What we need to do is figure out how to kick the bastard in the nose and more importantly, get out of the croc pit.

14. On this topic we disagree mostly
It's a trust issue for one - suddenly we have a crisis, which no appears to have seen before, and they want us to just toss money at it.

IF that is needed, then I will be on board. But before we rush to judgment I want more information.

Just because some egghead says it is so does not make it so.

Why did it happen, and if we give them money how do we know it is simply not a band aid on the chest wound? If you want 700 billion you better have a lot more details and make your case.

I want to know exactly who is getting paid, what they are doing with it etc.

54. Maybe cancer
would be a better analogy. If a person has cancer the best thing that can happen for them is to have the cancer removed during mass removal. If it has spread, then other treatments are necessary. Eating all the food you can to sustain yourself will not keep you alive. The cancer must be removed or destroyed.

No details, no information about what education or experience leads you to these conclusions, no supporting links from qualified academic or economic experts, nothing. Just your posts 'o doom.

If you really think this plan sucks, maybe you shouldn't be trying to stampede everyone into thinking something, anything needs to be done immediately.

110. The OP is a response to people who don't exist
It is a classic strawman argument. You presume that there are people who don't want a bailout unless every other societal problem is solved concurrently, and then you proceed to mock them.

The problem is, such people do not exist. There ARE people who do not want the American taxpayer put on the hook to the tune of (insert whatever figure you prefer here) unless the issues that caused this problem are addressed as well, but making your case against that argument just doesn't grant you as much leeway to deride them does it?

OMC the reason no one is convinced by your arguments is because you never leave any room for any opinions but your own. Anyone that doesn't simply parrot you is an "idiot", or "ignorant". You never directly address the points they make, you just act like a jerk. This is NEVER going to work, and you will turn people against your point of view on principle. This seems to be so well practiced with you I can only assume this is just the kind of person you are. Trust me, that is not the path you want to be on. You will be viewed as boorish and close-minded. That will lead to a very lonely existence, which will only reinforce your angry "get off my lawn!" persona.

I actually feel sorry for you. Must be a vitamin deficiency or something, I would never have expected that.

I've seen tons of comments refusing to support the bailout and saying that the money should go to healthcare, the poor, the homeless, blah blah blah. Such logic is absolutely ignorant.

And I always leave room for other intelligent opinions and when faced with them, have learned much here. But those I call closed minded and ignorant, are called such out of fact. It's always the same general handful of posters as well. They never cease to amaze me with their lack of reasoning.

Logic by it's very nature is flawless. If a person is using what they think are logical conlusions in their arguments which in actuality are false concepts then that person's argument is not logical. It's not "flawed logic", it's just not logic period.

119. I'm Not Surprised By Your Narrow Minded Answer. You Seem Stuck In A Singular Definition World.
In my eyes, it makes you look quite silly.

The term logic can be applied in several ways and carries with it several definitions. One of these is using the term logic to reference a source of reasoning, line of reasoning, methods of reasoning, etc. Under such terms, it absolutely can be flawed, ignorant or simply false. Your argument is absurd and limited in its own reasoning and logic, and also terribly flawed.

Open your mind sometime. It may open the world of possibilities for you.

and not just an attempt to score pain meds.

I am *not* convinced that the bail-out that Bush and the conspirators are blustering for is a real cure for that self-inflicted wound.

The "event" that they claim needs to be addressed is by no means as drastic as the patient claims. And on that basis, your metaphor fails. Extending it further, though, would you let a chiropractor treat that sucking chest wound?

I don't trust the Doctor's credentials in this case and will definitely require a 2nd opinion.

I think we need to let real experts, not the Neocon administration, analyze the problem and propose *real* therapy.
