You don't know the reason they're whacking trees down like toothpicks in my district is because he voted for Healthy Forests to pander to the loggers?

17. Did you ever try writing him with your concerns?
I'm a former constituent of his ... I was pissed about one of his votes, and I sent him a long, nasty email. He took the time to personally reply to me with a long, polite, and detailed explanation.

Like any politician, there will be things about him you detest. But think of the alternative. He's a good Representative. He will listen to you. He might have to listen to loggers more, but he will listen to you.

If he continues to undermine the Democratic Presidential candidate - I won't vote for him again. He doesn't need my vote to win. He wins this district in a landslide.

49. I've only seen one McCain sign- in Ashland
and we travelled almost the entire state this summer. Still haven't seen any around Washington county- which is very odd.

Not one single bumpersticker, either.

btw: your observations about DeFazio are spot on. Between the far left in Eugene an the whack Libertarians in the more rural areas of the district, I would have been surprised if he signed on to any workable plan that has a chance of passing.

52. It had been that way until last week
Now the diehard business owners are putting up a few. And I saw a few in an upscale community when I was canvassing last week-end. Maybe 5 all together. I drove to Coos Bay today, I might have seen one or two McCain signs, but significantly less Obama signs too. Except for there's a huge one in Winchester Bay, which is very cool. But it definitely is an interesting district with all kinds of communities and political views.

30. I understand. But DeFazio is fantastic!
No, I just left Coquille where I had an absolutely idyllic farm. I was there for only two years. Just long enough to sell it and get the hell out. If anyone saw the clearcuts it was me. I spent every day on a mountain bike riding those mountains. I'm still angry as hell. But there are a multitude of different types there. Even in Coquille. I am still shocked that Oregon is blue after having lived there.

Yeah, I'm upset. But DeFazio was a great senator. He opposed the war.

I know how you feel.

I am recently becoming aware that there are an array of different reasons people are republicans. I used to think it was simple. Not any more. Some are just stupid. Some are just evil. Some are making their husband right.

Anyways it would be nice if the real world were just a little bit more like DU. Oh well.

He's saying it's more a paper problem than a liquidity problem. Maybe people misunderstood him. He is usually a great Congressman, but when he isn't, it's usually because of his rural voters of whom you appear to know intimately. We almost moved to Coquille, I'm so glad we didn't. :hi:

It's written for and by the people responsible for the problem.
Written right into it is lack of oversight and accountability.

You couldn't rewrite every mortgage in America fast enough to fix the balance sheets. We could have fixed this last year, except half of DU was pissed that homeowners were going to get rewarded for bad behavior. That's why there hasn't been more help with these mortgages to begin with.

11. I think this is the Oct. surprise too
and even tho I DO think we have a real financial crisis - but this isn't new - BushCo was happy to let it happen until doing something would benefit them and the 5% that is Bush's real base.

Paulson and Bush, as Pelosi noted, worked on their crony "bail out" crap for months and expected to present it to Congress and force them to pass it because of this crisis. This is how BushCo and his repuke Congress have operated for the last 8 years on every issue.

I am thrilled that they did not get away with this shit yet again.

The democrats can create a proposal that is not another looting of the treasury for BushCo and all democrats will vote for it - when it includes accountability and regulation for those who have screwed up this economy.

They failed in Iraq, but are still torturing and manage to keep it out of the press.

They did also manage to cover up the put options of 9-11.

They are the grandest living thieves of lives, heritage, peace, money, savings, benefits that help the communities, elections.

They will get caught.

16. we are in the beginnings of a bad recession (thanks to repukes)
the neocons are using that fact to implement another round of fear mongering in hopes that people will allow them to steal another trillion dollars before they leave the country in December.

Bailout or no bailout, we are in for a long economic struggle.

the bailout is just a scam the cabal are using to try to steal money. It won't change anything about the coming recession, except to perhaps delay it for the very short term and make it worse.

I don't mind being called a hick if that's what it takes to stop the bailout ripoff. Defazio is right and has a long history to back it up. It was a joy to listen to two educated progressives like Hartman and DeFazio discuss the White House / Wall Street contrived "Crisis" this morning.

Not this time Bush. No more EMERGENCY EMERGENCY have to pass the Patriot Act, have to invade Iraq, have to eliminate habeas corpus, have to bail out Wall Street. Not this time.

You are incredibly WRONG. Just because you don't like what he says you smear him w/idiocy?

Pete DeFazio has been my rep for eight years. I have followed him the entire time. I have a file on his votes, his quarterly newsletters and his hard copies of emails, which is 1 1/2" thick. I have attended every townhall meeting he's given and spoken w/him privately on numerous occasions. I believe I know him a wee bit better than you.

There is nothing "low information" about him!

Your spamming this board for the past few days, calling anyone that din't agree w/you uninformed has become stale and tiring.

I agree w/Peter 100%. I posted pretty much the same thing two days ago.

This "bailout" is a final, manufactured FUCK YOU to every taxpayer in this country as the * cabal exits OUR White House, leaving the incoming president the impossible task of cleaning up their steaming pile of crap.

Saying you agree w/* tells me everything I need to know about you and it ain't pretty.
