Palin w/Couric: So he's got a tremendous amount of experience and, you know, I'm the new energy
Edited on Tue Sep-30-08 01:34 PM by maddezmom
Yesterday, Katie spent a lot of the day in Columbus, Ohio, on the campaign trail with Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain and his running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. At a campaign rally, Palin said: "I do look forward to Thursday night and debating Sen. Joe Biden. We are going to talk about those new ideas, new energy for America. I'm looking forward to meet him too. I've never met him before. But, I've been hearing about his Senate speeches since I was in, like, 2nd grade." And Katie hung out with Palin behind the campaign scenes later in the day. We'll show you more on the Evening News tonight, but first, check out what Katie asked the Republican VP nominee about that very statement.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Katie Couric: You made a funny comment, you've said you have been listening to Joe Biden's speeches since you were in second grade, something like that.

Sarah Palin: It's been since like '72, yah.

Couric: You have a 72-year-old running mate - is that kind of a risky thing to say, insinuating that Joe Biden's been around a while?

Palin: Oh no, it's nothing negative at all. He's got a lot of experience and just stating the fact there, that we've been hearing his speeches for all these years. So he's got a tremendous amount of experience and, you know, I'm the new energy, the new face, the new ideas and he's got the experience based on many many years in the Senate. And voters are gonna have a choice there of what it is that they want in these next four years.

1. "New ideas"?
More like "no ideas".

Please. Palin is trying to cast herself as Obama to Biden's McCain, and since Barack isn't an emptyheaded bimbo who thinks he's qualified for the post he's running for because he can draw and quarter a moose and race snowmobiles she's about to get a rude awakening.

It is truly a sign that this woman rarely reads a book.

7. Since Katie joined Digg and started listening to bloggers
she's come up in my standing as a reporter. That 72 and 72 comment was great.

Palin still sounds like an idiot or a high school candidate.

17. I think Couric's problem was that doing the morning show stuff dulled her edge
Morning shows aren't looking for cutting edge, hard driving journalism. They're focused on softball interviews that challenge neither the interviewer or the subject of the interview.

If you do that for god knows how long I would imagine your instincts for doing real journalism tend to get a little soft.

I don't know if Couric is worried about her job or if she really despises that idea that Palin is in the position to become president within the next four years. It could be a little of both but whatever the motivating factor is it seems to be driving her at this point.

8. You're dam right she's got new ideas - and you can hear all about them in her church
And so if you want to be in on how our Government will be run under a McCain/Palin ticket you should attend her church.

9. No wonder world leaders cringe around a "gal" who talks like a 6th grader.
She's no lady, just one of the gang. God, what an awful way to talk. She's as flip as a flap jack.

23. I agree and I notice in her rants, about how wonderful the future will
be, that she addresses us as if we're 6th graders! Haven't we had enough mono-syllable speech these last eight years?

14. Has anyone ever seen such an incoherent message from the same campaign?
I'm 44 yrs old, and I can't remember hearing such mixed messages.

On one hand you have McCain saying Obama is too inexperienced, on the other hand you have Palin saying Biden is old. What? Katie nailed it, when you're running mate is 72, it seems strange to be pointing out the age of the other guy.

It's contradictory. If Palin brings fresh energy, why wouldn't Obama? If Biden has spent many years in the Senate, hasn't McCain?

Biden would do well to let Palin talk a lot, the longer she's allowed to ramble, the less sense she makes.

21. Let her talk alot, while smiling himself with hands clasped on the podium,
rock on his heels and glance at the ceiling every so often followed by a glance at the audience and side view camera, always smiling. When she starts a new sentence or thought, look at her, smile, nod encouragement and let her run with it...

This bitch would be so easy, I want to debate her.

who have plans that the public might disagree with. Her so-called 'beauty' and hockey-momness is used to short-circuit critical thinking. She is hollow. She has no fucking clue what she's talking about. Notice how her major gaffes are coming as creepy Todd is no longer 24/7 Svengali? Notice how she can't be trusted off leash and even "Daddy Warbucks" must sit in on her interviews to keep her on message....and even then that's debatable. I think Todd wants her back in AK pronto, because her stupidity in the public eye is gonna blow up the shadow gov they're trying to put in place up there. this is funny too, because I suspect they thought it would be great to have her infiltrate Washington, but they weren't counting on losing control of her.
