Palin coming up on CBS: Homosexuality is a choice
Edited on Tue Sep-30-08 05:53 PM by Fuzz
Oh boy

Full quote:

"As for homosexuality, I'm not going to judge Americans and the decisions that they make in their own adult personal relationships. I have, um um, one of my absolute best friends for the last 30 years who happens to be gay and I love her dearly, and she is not my gay friend, she is one of my best friends who happens to have made a choice that um, isn't a choice I have made but, I'm not going to judge people."

21. actually I think this is what they want from her.
They know they are screwed as far as her appealing to moderates so throw some red meat to the base. Try to get them excited enough to come to the polls.

40. Yeah, I've been wondering why they tried for so long to bottle up her crazy
to get her to appeal to undecideds - she was obviously chosen for the nut-wing, and it's McCain's job to appeal to the middle. The problem for them is that McCain doesn't know how to appeal to moderate undecided voters (assuming there are many genuinely undecided people at this point)...

49. I think they chose Palin for 3 key reasons.
1. She appeals to women who are sexist and will vote for the female ticket no matter what.
- I think that it is a sad fact that they will pick up votes on this. I know a few here in MA and that is saying a lot IMO.

2. She appeals to the fundies.
- They have and will continue to pick up votes on this. Extremely sad but no doubt about it, a lot of fucktards will actually go and vote FOR the McCain/Palin ticket for this reason no mater how silly she sounds to us.

3. She is decent looking and personable.
- This keeps her from loosing as many independents as she would otherwise. It make her harder to attack because like it or not people equate attractiveness with intelligence.

As much as I wish it were... the sky is not falling for their campaign. She is doing what they wanted.
Sure they wish she appealed more to independents too, and they tried for it, but she is still dangerous to us.

The fundies have all lost their jobs and can't afford the gas to go to the polls, nor the stamp to send in the ballot. They're screwn.

Frankly, I don't know how they get away with it.

Ask Vitter about that

"Family values!"

Ask McCain about that

"Protect the children!"

Ask Mark Foley about that

"National Security!"

Ask Bush about that

64. Boy, don't I know it!
I've been asking for a reorientation camp for years. I want to be a bisexual. If they have reorientation camps (But I'm a Cheerleader!) for gays, I want one for straights. I'm tired of suffering under the yoke of heterosexuality (I'm actually only half joking. I have wanted to be bisexual most of my adult life and I hurt a truly bisexual woman once because I'm not, but I tried to fake it. Totally awful for both of us).

That is stupid, or at least willfully ignorant.

75. You're rotally right. That's why I think people should go back to that Kinsey scale.
Where he uses a number from 1 to 6, 1 being exclusively strait 6 being exclusively gay. The truth is you have all the people 2-5, who TEND one way, but can be both. That's the bisexual continuum. Its people from this continuum who have desires contrary to their normal tendency that create the illusion of strait or gay people having choice in the matter. But the truth is that we are what we are, including the many many 1's and 6's out there.

Well being a religious whacko nutjob is a CHOICE. I didn't make that choice. However, I am not going to judge them until they start trying to make laws to limit the choices of others.

RELIGION is a choice and not necessarily a good choice, depending on perspective.

70. I'm no expert, but I'd guess that the only "choice" people have is to accept
their sexual orientation or try to pretend to be something they are not. Lots of pain for everyone involved with the latter.

71. Voting for Sarah Palin is a choice, and one which I hope that people don't make!

72. So she has a gay friend. Wonder if she has a black friend?
She actually used the "I have a gay friend" line to prove that she's not a homophobe?

I wonder at what point did Palin choose to be straight? Did she experiment with another woman first? If not, how does she know she made the right choice? After all, in order to make a proper informed decision, doesn't one have to be familiar with all the options? :eyes:

79. Is being a pathological liar a lifestyle choice?
Edited on Thu Oct-02-08 05:39 PM by Kurovski
Or are they born?

Nice way to weasel out of answering. She's already adjudged it a "choice". The real question to ask is would she change the Constitution to discriminate against her "gay friend"? I don't give a moose honk for her bullshit piety and political posturing.

What would Bible nut Sarah do?

80. Can someone PLEASE explain to my how and why homosexuality is a CHOICE?
And while I'm at it, why is it such a problem? Jesus Christ...just let people live and love the way they want.

82. It's an immoral lifestyle that some people choose...
Just like being left-handed.
