How can the Palin "What magazines do you read for news?" video not be the deal-breaker?
That video has made every comment she has made prior, Mensa material.

I mean, how fucking stupid can you be not to bullshit yourself out of such a simple question? You telling me she never walked past a Newsweek of Time magazine on her way through the Moose Mart?

Seriously ... that's what she said. Everything that's put in front of her, everything she can get her hands on. She could not name one freakin' newspaper or magazine. She gave a ridiculously vague answer to a softball question that was basically a gift from Katie Couric. There was no wrong answer - as long as she named a respected newspaper or news magazine. She couldn't do it.

edited: typo

Truly a disgusting show.

BTW, is anyone else terrified at the thought of even having to hear her voice for another four years?

Many of them don't read newspapers themselves, after all, and they're doing alright. All they need is some OxyRush on the radio and Shammity on the boob tube to know everything worth knowing.

20. Haha, it reminded me of the Bush Doctrine moment.
I mean, it's called the BUSH DOCTRINE. What risk would she have really taken in saying she agreed with it? He's the leader of her party! She could have just said, "of course I agree with our President." End of story.

Likewise, as you say, she could have easily lied and said "Time, Newsweek, USA Today."

It's not so much that she's dumb (which is obviously the case) but she doesn't even have an ounce of political instinct. I'm sure there are plenty of congresspeople who are as dumb as Palin but who are smart enough to be able to wing a phony answer to a softball question on the fly.

Besides every fuckin' thing happening on the planet right now. I own a DVD of "Bushisms". To this day it's still a shocker what a true dumb ass embarrassment of a speaker this man is, yet he IS president and has been for eight long years.

I guess I'm saying the election will be stolen or there's a vast amount of people who aren't intelligent enough to recognize massive ignorance for it to matter to them. Maybe both.

25. Right Wingers will be impressed by her answer
Bush Bragged about not reading the newspaper

They elected him

She said she read them all

obvious to anyone she doesn't read crap

average bushie will wonder how she finds time to read every magazine and newspaper and raise a bunch of kids and run a state, and go to church and study the bible, plus she hunts and knows how to strip a moose in the field with the knife she made from a whalebone she took from the porpoise she butchered earlier that day.

Palin is like a right wingers superwoman wet dream. She will secure the "Get r done" vote as she is the true MilfHunter, they don't care about her interviews or debates, all they know is she is cute and likes to hunt and some probably like the fact she is religious as well but probably.

That wont win the election for McCain, she is alienating the reagan republicans and the independants, and McCain needs those to win. Securing his christian base while pushing the middle away was McCain shooting himself in the foot like he has ever since.

How can you not just come up with
Washington Post
Wall Street Journal
Newsweek

even if you don't read them, you figure they had her reading these since she was chosen VP and supposedly has had sessions with advisors helping her get up to date on national issues and foreign policy over the last month.

Even that would have been a better answer.

I'm guessing that she doesn't read any news publications. Her demonstrated lack of knowledge seems to prove that.

29. "I like to watch"
She probably saw "Being There," and figured if it was good enough for Chauncey Gardiner,
it was good enough for her. After all, she already said that if the Pledge of Allegiance
was good enough for the Founding Fathers, it was good enough for her. OK, so the Pledge
was authored in 1892, with "under God" being added in 1954. She probably thought "Being
There" was a documentary, too.

31. A lot of Americans don't read. They watch TV - that's it.
That's why they're so easily manipulated. They see nothing wrong with someone who doesn't read newspapers or magazines.

She's already shown she has contempt for books; her supporters didn't care.

36. She there are alot of Americans that don't read,
but I'm pretty sure they could at least name a magazine or newspaper they've heard of. As someone pointed out, she's been on the cover of several. Who wouldn't keep a few copies of Time Magazine if they were on the cover?

It's mind boggling how stupid Palin is. More so than Bush, I'm afraid to say (VERY afraid).

38. Political magazines are pretty passe, are they not? I rarely read "Time" or "Newsweek"
Edited on Wed Oct-01-08 10:42 AM by justlikeawoman14
Never really did, actually. I always preferred the local papers myself. If there was some in-depth article, then yeah. But nowadays with the Internets, you can read all the columnists, cover stories, etc. online. I also think that the slant of "Time" and "Newsweek" is sometimes suspect. I much prefer stuff from "The Nation" or "The New Yorker."

(P.S. This will probably cause me to receive much scorn, but I confess: I peruse "The National Enquirer," "Star" and "Us Magazine" every week.)
