I'm tired today, so you'll have to forgive me for sounding like an old grump. I've been volunteering for three different campaigns since May, 2007. I do phonebanking exclusively. I've felt overwhelmed by the nastiness and sheer ignorance of Republicans before, but I've never felt this tired of it. Example: Here's a conversation I had last night with a woman from a well-to-do conservative town.

ME: Hello, may I please speak to Mary?

Mary: That's "Mrs." So and So

ME: I'm sorry. Mrs. So and so, my name is zanne and I'm a volunteer calling on behalf of so and so's campaign.

Mrs. So and So: You have the wrong number.

ME: I'm sorry. I thought I was talking to Mrs. So and so.

Mrs. So and so: You are.

ME: Is this such and such a number?

Mrs. So and so: Yes, it is.

ME: Did I call your businesss line?

Mrs. So and so: No, you didn't.

ME: There seems to be a mixup. Why are you saying I have the wrong number?

BITCH REPUBLICAN FROM AFFLUENT NEIGHBORHOOD: Because you're a Democrat.

ME: I see. Thank you for your time.


Please send enough good vibes so I can make it through to November!

1. My hugest thanks to you for being able to handle the phone calls

and canvassing for Obama and other candidates. I wouldn't do the campaign much good as a phone bank caller. I if got a nasty old woman like that one, I would have told her off. Definitely not the kind of personality needed for the campaign. I am getting too old to tolerate people like that. Thank goodness for your strength and devotion.

2. Been there and done that I tend to agree it will be better when it is over.

I have also had a couple contacts that would make a Democrats day. My first call was good enough to make a commercial if the story could be told. I wish I could tell the stories I hear but that information is not something I can ever share.

What you do is worthwhile, November is coming.

3. here they come-boo boo.

forget all that crap-- look for that feeling that rushes up your legs when you really connect with a person who is open to truth. you cannot shake a green apple from a tree but when it is ripe it is easy to pick. concentrate on the good energy you get from receptive people & forget the crap that is slung at you. you just have to do your best, then God takes over & makes it all work. you know the calm the obama brings and that is where we need to rest. :):):) you must be good at what you are doing if you have been doing it for so long consciously . a person grows when they really communicate with others.that is growth that cannot be taken away from you!!!
