RWers are threatening to leave the US should BHO/JRB become President/VP
Edited on Sat Oct-11-08 03:49 PM by XanaDUer
(which they will, btw) They had better start making their plans now.

Well, where can they go? I am siting here thinking, where is the world is there a pure, right-wing white government, or non-white, for that matter, that the boo-hooers and whiners can flee to to live out their dreams of RW heaven-on-earth?

Hmmmm. Can any of you smart DUers think of anyplaces they can go? Canada? Nationalized health, even with a "RW" government, subsidized housing. Poland has something of a RW gov., they have had to let go of many policies to keep their EU membership. Take it from me who travels to the Republic of Ireland-they won't want 'em and they won't like it. Is America in its agonal gasps of free-market systems, and a new New Deal is about to go down? South Africa could have been a place to go at one time, but not anymore. Rhodesia is now Zimbabwe is now run by the communist head of the African National Congress, Mugabe. He's a nut, though.

Iran, Egypt, Lebanon...Slovakia? Is the US the last place that has a right-wing government at this point. Even what is considered "RW" in Europe is more along the lines of the Dem party in the US.

Are we going to have to send a petition to another country, say France, saying, in essence, "Please take our right-wingers who are now refugees from the US, you cheese-eating surrender monkeys!"

13. But, they'll be turned back at the border
that won't work. If the fence across the US-Mex border gets built, they could emigrate there, and the fence will keep them out. Although, I don't want to inflict them on Mexicans, who suffer enough b/c of US policies.

30. They won't like that because it is full of radical muslims
and I think you cannot proselytize Christianity, either. However, that is an interesting point, since they do have conservative governments, but not the way some of the folks I know mean it.

I was told that conservatives are afraid that will be put in camps once Democrats take over and have a majority in congress. Christians will be "persecuted", and they feel they already are now. When I protest mildly that someone simply questioning you or disagreeing with you is not persecution, they disagree.

45. I have polite conversations with many very conservative Christians I work with
always initiated by them (I'm of the old-fashioned don't-discuss sex, politics, or religion at work school), and they do feel that conservative christians are persecuted on earth. And, there are places on earth they *are* persecuted, but I said that America is not one of them.

I pointed out the difference say, between what Hitler did to Jews and gays and communists, people of conscience who objected to his politics, and someone not wanting to convert or have a conservative-christian lifestyle forced upon them and codified into law is *not the same*.

Then I usually hear something like - "But, isn't America a Christian country?" plaintively. And then i address that canard. I think D. James Kennedy was pushing some infomercial about that topic when he was alive.

I say that Christians are in the majority in this country, we have strict blue laws in our state-how can a persecuted group have that kind of pull?

But, in their minds, they are under assault at all times.

55. Many fundies think this is "their" country and so they should be in control
If they aren't, they see that as "persecution". It's the same nonsense you get from racist whites.

I always quote John Adams on these matters ...

>"This nation of ours was not founded on Christian principles."

He and Jefferson both said that over and over again. I doubt any "true American" RW fundie has EVER read anything written by a founding father.

52. I work with right-wingers whose kids are on PeachCare
which is the state of Georgia's medicaid program for kids. And, they rail against the dirty hispanics here in Georgia who they feel are stealing from white people.

we had a local politician who wants to stop the children of immigrants from attending public schools or getting any healthcare here. when I probe why this is not a good idea (pandemics and an uneducated underclass will not be good for anyone), the main concern seems to be that some non-white person is getting something on their dime.

I'm not from Georgia. Also, there are lots of nice dems and progressives here; i work with them in political groups.

40. There is no reason for them to leave, but some people seem truly
afraid. The fear seems to center on their children/family/churches being destroyed. We got a flyer here in 2004 saying that, should the "liberals" win the Presidency, we will outlaw bibles (which I'm not for, btw) and all sorts of bad things will happen to conservative Christians.

If one holds these beliefs, and one is free to, I started to think where would i move to if I wanted a white, "Christian", bible-based place to live. And I cannot think of one place.

I mean, this is the party who uses Country First as their slogan and they are the ones who yell patriotism at every opportunity and who use the yellow ribbon 'support the troops' stickers on their SUVs, whether or not they really do support the troops. They've got that little bumper sticker and that's their proof!

So, when an election doesn't go their way, they bail? That doesn't sound like much of a patriot to me.....

Having said that, I'd also be glad to help them pack their bags! As David Letterman said recently, 'do you need a ride to the airport?'

59. NEW DEAL: Fundys move OUT of America
and we will pay off your massive debt.

Id' send 'em to alaska, but after how they handled Troopergate, they don't deserve to get stuck with a bunch of wing nuts. No one would want them- even europe is off limits for them; the Europeans think they are provincial morans, not to mention the fact that they've had massive muslim immigration over the past ten years and the fundies might not like that. I just don't think they could take the diversity of the culture.

what else is left for them? god. I really don't know. Hey, they like Israel a lot - any deal there? They'd be well positioned then to continue their holy war, with the added bonus of being able to put their money and body where their mouths are. Win win? I think so. Except, sorry to the Jewish folks....but if you use the fundies for armies, maybe it will work out for everyone? I hear the fundies dont' like any help from the govt and like to do everything by their own boot straps, so it wouldn't cost the Israelis much, and they would get a free army.

68. Good riddance to the lot of them. We would certainly be better off
without them. Our nation would be better off without them.
Don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way OUT, scumsuckers. They don't deserve this country. They've had too much of a role in destroying what we now need to restore.

81. Let them have one of those Pacific Island groups where the highest point is a few feet above sea
Level NOW. Then when the global warming they do not believe in raises the ocean level, they can deal with it first hand. Maybe a "baptism" will get them to look at reality.
