Voting should be an "opt-out" proposition...not opt-IN..

Every person should be automatically "registered as no-party" at age 18..without having to DO anything..

If they plan to vote in LOCAL/STATE elections, they should only have to bring a piece of recent mail to prove their address, and eligibility to vote in their town/state

around here at least, the DMV REQUIRES a birth certificate to get your first license, so why not just issue a license/ID card that has a "C" for citizen or "N" for non-citizen..

You should not have to jump through hoops to vote.. If you are a citizen, you have a right to vote..period..

The naturalization process should include registration
The end of parole/probation/whatever would automatically restore voting rights
A death certificate processing should automatically remove a voter

and at age 18, every citizen should receive in the mail, their NOTICE that they ARE a registered voter..

IF people WANT to join a party they can JOIN one by calling or visiting an office...or at their first primary, when they ask for a party ballot, that would identify them as an R or a D.

2. I posted the suggestion before.
That we should have an anti-poll tax.
That if you did not want to vote you could get out of it by paying the tax.
This might seem to be against the idea of freedom but their should be some duties required for citizenship, and one of them should be voting even if you did not vote for anyone.
Plus voting day should be a national Holiday.

3. You are correct. Registration is bullshit.
A driver's license or alternative government ID should be all that is necessary to vote in the precinct where your address is located. And no registration should be required thereafter.

5. A police officer in Podunk, USA can find out about that ticket you got 25 years ago ...
Surely our system can handle using driver's licenses or state issued IDs for voting.

If my Driver's license has my photo, my age over 18, and my address, I should automatically be able to vote in any election that has voting booths in my precinct, district, or state.

We have barriers to voting, and their purpose is to be barriers to voting.
