Maybe you guys know about the "big story" on CNN last night?

A group of repukes are are attacking me on another board, telling me that I should be worried about the "big story" on CNN last night instead of "inventing" things. I'm lost and I can't find anything about it on CNN.com. What are they talking about or are they just blabbing more insane nonsense?

I'll put it this way then.... I WILL BE GLAD WHEN THIS ELECTION IS OVER BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE IN A VERY FOUL MOOD AND OVERLY SENSITIVE. Better? When aunt flo comes to visit me, I go into bitch mode. I'm not ashamed of it nor do I get offended by the term. It's a simple truth of life. Hormones effect our moods. Why am I explaining myself again?
I just think it's sad when fellow democrats turn on eachother over silly things when times get hectic. I see the republicans turn on their own and eat them alive all the time. I understand from your post that you don't see it, but allow me to explain how some of the rest of us see it. We recognize it is one of a set of words and phrases used against women and their advancement in gender equality. Are you too young to remember when PMS rage was a standard excuse used to defend against women in sensitive jobs or management roles? I'm not. It's not acceptable for employers to state it that way anymore but that doesn't mean that the thinking has disappeared.

Outside of employment issues, asserting that women who are angry must be "on the rag" dismisses the validity of that anger -- it's just hormonal after all. Using the description on men is just as dismissive because it's using a feminizing insult. Is it the biggest insult out there? No, but it is a sexist insult and for that reason some people avoid it. YMMV.

And I appreciate that you could respond without hitting below the belt. As many others, I am currently on edge about things and I guess I get a little pissed when I write something just asking for some basic advice and I get shitty responses that are nothing but pointless jabs (and I'm not referring to the responses to my "rag" comment". I'm speaking of the little jabs. I'm sorry if I have a job and have two kids and can't keep up with every hot topic on this election. I'd like to but I can't. That's why I asked. It would be nice if we could all get along but it seems that so many have overblown egos and instead of being friendly and actually offering something of worth, all they have is sarcasm and hate. I responded to it badly and for that I'm sorry but I do believe the subject is being blown a little out of proportion. Which goes back to my originaly response. I shouldn't have given more fuel to the fire. It appears that some thrive off of attacking people. It's too bad because we all need eachother for advice and support...now more than ever.

25. I'm curious. Do you know WHY it is you can hold a job?

Do you think it's because of your own merit and not because a whole lot of "hysterical" women went out and marched for women to hold a job and receive something vaguely resembling the pay of men?

Why do you think you have custody or the possibility of custody of your own children? You think that's based on your merit? Or was it a whole lotta overly sensitive and hysterical women out there marching and dying for women's rights?

You stand on the shoulders of women throughout the history of the US and Europe and then some. Then you spit in their faces with your sexist - yes sexist - words while spouting how hard you've worked to obtain what YOU have which you could NOT have had it not been for those women.

If you can't "keep up" with what's happening, maybe it's because so many women decided they didn't need to honor those whose shoulders they stand on, and let the ball drop.

You didn't get there on your own. There were generations before you.

During my time here at DU I was first amazed and then alarmed at how little knowledge of women's history we have. I don't mean just women who don't know how much they owe to the women who've come before them, but men, too, who don't know the history of how women have achieved some of the (still limited) benefits we have today. I alternate between sad and angry.

36. I've been hearing about this "big news" for a couple of weeks now on various message boards

But have yet to see anything of any substance come forth.
