Here's to YOU, DU'ers. It's been a long, hurtful, scathing, sometimes dishonest fight.
And that's just here on DU!

Seriously though, we emerged from the primaries as dysfunctional a group as Dems can be. BUT! Between then and now, we've learned to love one another once again, and focus on a common goal. And, we focused on it so acutely that with our persistence, our cajoling, our contributions, and our volunteering, that we pushed this race over the top. We're on the brink of something previous generations have only dreamed of. Let's be proud of that. I know I am. The future is bright my friends, bright indeed.

Freepers? There are many here who cannot and will not give up their hatred of same. I've seen it posted many times. As for me, come Wednesday, freeps will be so irrelevant that they'll matter not in the least. ESPECIALLY if we gain the coveted 60 seat majority in the Senate. In fact, I might feel something bordering on pity for them. For all their misguided views, they've been standing up for things they believe in their hearts. For all their hatred, they're only trying to look out for what they see as the common good. For that reason, I'm going to take the opposite tack. I'm going to offer them an olive branch. After all is said and done, it would be very heartening to see posts from Good Dems saying that they, with kindness and light, have brought another freep over from the dark side. After all, isn't it common to believe that you can attract more bees with honey than you can with vinegar?

So, as I said, I'll be offering an olive branch to every freep I encounter in my daily life. Those I know, and those I don't. They'll all get the same kind treatment. And, when one of them decides to step up, do what's right, and reach for my olive branch, I'll draw it back and commence to beating the living shit out of them. I'll beat them with glee. I'll beat them with fervor. I'll beat them up, down, and sideways. I'll beat them until they BEG me to stop, and then I'll tell them I'll stop the beating ONLY after they promise to be better human beings, and consider how much they've fucked up the world. When they acquiesce, I'll beat them some more just so they remember the beating, and why it was administered. The whole time, I'll be telling them how it hurts me more than it hurts them. Okay, question the veracity of that last statement. I understand; I question it also. It'll sure feel good to distribute some olive branch justice though.

I cannot stand one more minute of pollsters, prognosticators, pundits, nay-sayers, or politicians. I'm confident that tomorrow will open a new door on America's future. I'm confident that looking through that open door we'll see things that warm our hearts, soothe our fears, and make us proud to be Americans once again. I had planned to be up all night tonight and most of the night tomorrow posting here. No can do. I know some may be disappointed, but I'm doing the best I can. There's a hot tub outside that's whispering my name. Oh, it might be only 35 degrees outside, but the hot tub is 102/103. I'm going to take three tea glasses full of White Zin, a toke, my smokes, and go look at the stars. I'm going to reflect on how fucked up the last eight years have been, and how promising the future is with President Barack Obama at the helm of this once promising experiment in Democracy. When I put my head on the pillow later, I'll sleep with faith in the future, and faith in the American electorate. I'll also sleep the sleep of the drunk and stoned. But I'll be smilin'.

So rest easy my friends. We've achieved our goal. Go forward with the confidence that our party is in control, and the policies of the past are just that; Policies of the past. And, if you can find an olive branch, beat the living shit out of a rethug with it. Who knows, it just may get through their thick skulls.

I feel so very lucky to have been a part of this community for the last few years. Y'all are a bitchin' group of people.

May the Great Spirit Bless You All.

PS. My fiance has informed me that starting Wednesday, I'll be limited to one hour per day of reading/posting here. Does anyone know of a twelve step program for weaning souls from the best website on the internets? I hope so. Otherwise, I'll be suffering from DT's starting Wednesday about noon. Help a brother DU'er out if you know a way to stop sneaking here that doesn't involve tossing my pc out the window.

Peace!

Just so you know, the beating thing was figurative, not literal. I never advocate violence. MMMMkay. Where's my olive branch... Watch the fuck out rethugs! In the words of Bill Cosby: LET THE BEATINGS BEGIN!

Or... bid our new president a fond adieu as he, John Sidney McKamikaze retires.
