That's right. Ronny Raygun beat Jimmy Carter, 489 to 49, exactly 28 years ago today.

As much as the right loves to love RR, they rarely mention he only got 50.7 percent of the popular vote in a 3-way race. Carter got 41 percent and John Anderson got 6.6. Libertarian Ed Clark got 1.1 percent.

A mere 86 million voters cast ballots. I'm thinking BHO could come close to or even exceed 70 million today.

1. Strangely, I was just thinking about that
I was in 4th grade, and for some reason I remember the date of that year's election day very clearly.

What a fucking nightmare his presidency and legacy have been, made all the more horrible by his salivating acolytes who benefited so hugely from his crimes. Good riddance.

Governor they said it'd take 20 yrs to fix it if he resigned right then. i distinctly remember that cause i heard it packing up my stuff at Humboldt State University after having to drop out because he eliminated all grants, loans and work study programs and raised tuition and imposed larger class sizes.

the dirty tricks to disenfranchise the poor included counting any grant's and loans you applied for as current income, without receiving it and raising the lowering level.

i was providing thousands of dollars of invertebrate specimens for lab classes, maintaining the specimen labs, teaching 4 labs and maintaining the oceanographic study facility exhibits for $4 an hour on a poverty income work study grant.
