Poll question: How many of you voted for all Democrats?
I know that voting a "straight ticket" on some of the repuke election fraud, er, voting machines is a problem, but whether you used the straight-ticket button or manually voted for all Democrats, did you end up voting a straight ticket?

Congress critter. No Democrat on the ballot this year to oppose the guy.

10. Not an American hating moron, but I did vote for one Republican.

Maybe this is just an Illinois thing. Once in awhile a real whackjob sneaks through the Democratic primary. Last time an Adlai Stevenson (III?) was nominated governor we discovered a La Rouchian won the Democratic nomination for Lt Governor. Stevenson actually spent the general election campaigning for his Republican opponent as a result.

This year we have one nutjob for one minor office. So I voted for a Republican in that race.

And for US House of Representatives I voted for the Green Party candidate because I happen to have that slimy piece of shit Rahm Emmanuel as my representative. After his assistance in trying to oust Dean and shutdown the 50-State Strategy AFTER IT WORKED SO WELL LAST ELECTION, I wouldn't vote for that man if he was running against a Bush.

I voted straight Dem, EXCEPT for registrar of Probate, in which only a Republican was listed...I didn't want to leave it unchecked (don't need any 'overzealot McCain supporter' throwing my ballot out, so I checked "Other", and put my Mother In Law's name in (she was NOT too happy with me about it...hehe...)

I will be voting for all Dems with the exception of one Independent. This is local and is really important. He's running as an Indy but has previously declared himself as a Repub. We need him, no Dem is running and the Republican he'll be replacing has had power issues and needs to go. We have local R's running unopposed and I skip over them.

52. The lesser of several evils
Too many put their church affiliations and membership in religious organizations in their bios. Someone who runs for a soil and water supervisor started his goal by stating his belief that a marriage is between a man and a woman..

So if voting for someone else for that post, even if the other may be a Republican, is the least I can do to keep these nuts out.

49. Another good reason to write yourself in somewhere...
...is that if the ballots are recounted, you can look for your own
ballot to know that it was counted. I usually find some insignificant
race in which to do this; this time, I contended for the third state
rep slot on an otherwise-unfilled Democratic slate, but I've been
known to run for Sheriff, Registrar of Probate, and what-have-you.

because, among other things, he looked me right in the eyes and lied to me in person about the provisions of the bankruptcy bill that he supported (claiming, among other things that it protected people who were in deep due to medical debt!).

That was on odd race this year. The Republicans basically kicked their candidate out of the party for backing Obama. Hopefully, Wu will do something stupid and get a primary challenger to take him down. Otherwise, I'll be encouraging foilks to vote for one of his opponents again.

it's important to point out that there weren't too many challengers to the Democratic ticket, and many of the Democratic candidates were running as the Republican candidate, as well (don't ask, I also have no idea how that works, or how that happens). 66. We had excellent Dem candidates at all levels of the ticket
so I voted straight D. :) The congressman I voted for probably won't make it - he's running against a long-established moderate R, but I like what I've heard from him and so he got my vote. We've got two former governors running for the Senate seat - the Democratic candidate is generally very popular and well-respected even in the reddest areas of the state (where I live), mostly because of the way he was able to clean up the huge economic mess his Republican opponent left us in. I guess we'll see how that all turns out, though. :hi: Peace!

I went through and selected all the Democratic candidates individually.

There were some races with only Republicans running, and the only other option was Write-In. I wasn't sure how that worked on an electronic voting machine, so I just skipped those races.

There was one race where only one person was running, and "Petition" was listed under his name. I voted for him. If I see him later on with a Republican under his name, I'll vote him out, though ;)

71. It's a "throw the bums out" kind of year.
I had a paper ballot (wheee!) and I blackened the circle next to every Dem. Even for coroner!

73. I don't like my state congressman
He's the only Dem I didn't vote for this time. He will win since he has no Republican opponent...I just didn't want to vote for him.

74. All but one
I voted all Dems but one where I voted libertarian. If the Dem is the best person they get my vote. Every once in awhile a sleazeball gets through though and I won't vote for them just because they have a D by the name.

78. I voted for a few pukes for District Judge, etc
We have some good 'pukes here in Kansas. Old-school conservatives, not neo-con idiots. Several of them definitely deserved my vote.

But it was with GREAT pleasure that I voted against Tiahrt and Robertson. AHHHHH....
