I was asked to leave the polling station
On the steet at the entrance to the polling station parking lot, there was a pro-life contingent, and another fella holding a sign campaigning for a local republican. I made a quick sign that said REPUBLICAN BASTARDS! and stood in their midst. Security asked me to leave but let them stay. What is up with that?

4. The use of profanity is what got you
Just my guess although I hardly think "bastards" is profane.

6. This weird guy dressed like the Fonz, but with Buddy Holly glasses
showed up wearing a Mike Gravel tee and two Gravel buttons. It seemed borderline to me. What is the rule on dead candidacies? Could I wear a Mondale/Ferraro pin to the polls?

7. Your sign wasn't a political position, it was what they'd call "fighting words"
because they simply attacked (no matter how accurate they were). You're lucky you weren't arrested.

Not that I'm not grinning at the image... :)

8. You asked for it
We have free speech, but putting profanity on a sign is asking for trouble because it could be interpreted as intimidation or suchlike. I don't think this is a sensible way to act.

11. I thought it was illegal to campaign outside a polling place. Am I wrong?

12. Were they specifically campaigning for anyone? OR was there an anti-abortion ballot proposal?
If it was just a general visibility thing it might not be illegal.

Not sure.

13. One guy campaigned for a specific person, the others had Pro-life signs.
We have stem cell research on the ballot.

15. in Florida, all campaigning has to be 100 ft away from the entrance
to the voting area. We are allowed to wear buttons, shirts, hats, ponchos, and other personal items with a candidates name/image on them in the voting area. I would presume this is a national thing.
