Guards protecting Ohio's Secretary of State after death threats.

COLUMBUS — The vitriol over Ohio’s role in this election has been so intense that security has been assigned to Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner.

A security person provided by the Ohio State Highway Patrol watched closely Monday afternoon as Ms. Brunner provided her first update to reporters on how voting had proceeded so far.

"The phone lines were jammed for a period of time prior to the election, and some phone calls were menacing,’’ said Brunner spokesman Jeff Ortega.

This marked the first time that Ms. Brunner has received security protection. Death threats have targeted her, her family, and the secretary of state’s office.

Hmmm....let's see, that Voinavich guy, doesn't he have an election coming up in a couple years. Or maybe there's a House seat in her future.

I've watched her for the last 12 months. She's spent that time piecing together decisions and policies in a way that will make it very tough for repugs to steal this election via Ohio again. She did it quietly and thoroughly. I hope that she'll at least get as much from the future democratic leadership for her leadership that Harris got for stealing FL in 2000. Brunner is so much smarter than Harris it's not funny and the Ohio delegation could use a shot in the arm.

Is Jennifer Brunner being threatened because she failed to do specific things?

Or are certain extremists just unhappy in general because she made the Ohio election
as election-proof as possible?

Do we know who is making these threats and why they are making them? What demands
is she supposed to meet?
