This is the Most Exciting Election of my Lifetime!
I am in my late 50's and I have voted in many Presidential elections.

It was GOOD voting for Clinton/Gore.

But today was very different experience. I felt it in the crowd; I felt it in my heart.

Today is shaping up to be a pivotal event in our history and I am thrilled!

5. You mean you weren't excited in 2004?!?
Just in a different way? I almost went streaking, throwing objects through glass windows. I passed out instead.

7. Yeah.
I was happy about voting for Kerry and Edwards, too. I was happy voting for Carter. I like Mondale, Dukakis... all of them.

But today was special. I saw lots of young people (EVERYBODY looks young to me these days) and more people at the poll than in the past.

I felt like I was choosing THEM and their future. (I'm a Drama queen. I can't help it.)

14. I meant excited in an angry way...not for the dem candidate...
I generally fell asleep listening to Kerry. Really. Sorry to offend anyone. But I was angry on election night in 2004. Damn angry.

Thanks for thinking about younger people BTW. They are going to have a very hard life (despite their X-Boxes, nice cars, and MTV). When it comes to families, debt, homes, education, things are going to be drastically tough for those people starting out in this mess.

6. Yes
I've never been so excited to vote, even more so than the first time I voted. :-)

8. I too am in my 50's..and today, after voting, hubby went into CVS for a prescription
this is in Detroit and a few black men who exited CVS looked me straight on the eye as I did them and there was almost a recognition..like we clicked at some level..I am not sure if I was proud I had voted for Obama or they were proud that a black man, like themselves, would likely be the next president of the USA..but it seemed electric...connecting..

PS my husband is black and I am white

12. My African-American neighbors
and co-workers were ecstatic today. One said, "tomorrow, I will feel liberated." You know what? So will I. I'm white.

I feel that we, as the American People, are choosing NOT to be divided and are rising to the occasion to accept our cultural and ethnic diversity by electing someone who has the potential to be a good President, if not a great President.

(man, this is good WINE!)

10. Today is the first election
for which I don't feel like I am "settling" for my candidate. I am so amazed to see this all happening. I remember his speech at the 2004 convention, and have only been more amazed since then. I had so hoped that he would run! Pinch me - am I dreaming?

15. Me too! I'm the same age as Obama...
I was fired up in '92 and 2000. However, in 2000, I was somewhat complacent because I thought there was no way Gore would lose to such a boob (and I never thought this country would experience a stolen election). In 2004, I was still to heart-broken, and not surprised.

For the past six months, this election has totally consumed me. I voted for Hillary in the primary. However, I can't quite pinpoint when I fell in love with the Obama family, but totally in love I am!

16. I see it this way...
I don't want to see color 'cause it doesn't bother me. I want an intelligent man who can try to cut through the bureaucratic bullshit that others have fucked up for so long, and we stand a better chance of a future for us all. I do believe that Barack Obama and the people that he is gathering around him are that chance.
