Do you understand the meaning of the word mandate?
Here are John Dean's words about the Rethug Congress: . condoned (if not encouraged) excessive secrecy by the Bush and Cheney administration;
. refused to stand behind their own accounting and investigative arm, the General Accountability Office, when Vice President Cheney declined to provide the sort of basic information that has always been made available to Congress;
. provided the vice president - who is the president of the Senate, not to mention part of the executive branch - with a luxurious Capitol Building office in the House wing (which complements his luxurious office as president of the Senate in the Senate wing) so he could more easily lobby for White House activities in both chambers;
. effectively became a mere extension of the White House, abandoning all responsibility for conducting oversight of the executive branch; thus it neither said nor did anything when it became apparent that Bush and Cheney had deceived Congress to justify going to war in Iraq (clearly an impeachable offense);
.tolerated and supported Bush/Cheney policies that have made the United States despised around the world for its preemptive war in Iraq and its uses of torture in defiance of the nation's treaty obligations, not to mention the badly botched war against terrorists; and
.fostered an atmosphere of hostility, utterly lacking the collegiality and civility that had made it a great deliberative body. John Dean Broken Government:How Republican Rule Destroyed the Legislative, Executive and Judicial Branches, p.25/26 ---------------
The President Elect does not need your permission or endorsement on any fugging appointment. You have lost power - change will be coming whether you like it or not.
