Apparently, the reason I am pro-gay rights
is because I am "young and naive."
Thanks, Dad, for pointing that out.

10. Same here. I'll vote for Young & Naive over Old & Narrow-Minded any day of the week.
I think it's also called having a basic sense of fairness, yes.

20. oh I would never let him hear the end of that one
lol. Of course, I have found that with my friends who voted for Bush and supported Republicans, that they now regard me as nearly God-like in my political predictions over the years. Even my Dem friends were skeptical. They thought I was going too far when I said Bush might put us into another Great Depression... yeah well whose crazy now? :) So sometimes it is good to sit back and lord your rightness over others. :)

17. Ahh, well
he asked me that a few times.
He said he would love me even if I was. Don't know if I believe that. Not with the way he talks about gay people.

22. Here's some small hope for you
My parents are 82. They are constantly reminding me to be accepting of gay rights. (I don't *need* to hear this, but I love 'em to pieces for raising me as a true-blue liberal, and I acknowledge them when they still "teach" me.)

Edited on Tue Nov-18-08 10:00 PM by pnwmom
He apparently doesn't realize how many miserable "Brokeback Mountain" marriages occurred among the members of his generation, and in previous generations.

My parents' 27 year long marriage being among them.

In other words, he doesn't understand that gay people have ALWAYS gotten married. So the choice is, do you want gay people marrying your (unknowing) straight children (the "traditional" model of marriage) or gay people marrying your gay children?
