(WARNING TURKEY SNUFF FILM) The most important question in the wake of the election:
What was this guy thinking while "doing his job" on the turkeys?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-kjM1asH-8

I mean, what the fuck was he thinking? He just kept looking over to see in amazement that she was doing her interview right in front of turkey's getting whacked.

1. I just can't figure out just what that machine is doing to the turkey.
It seems to have a head afterwards. Am I missing something?

7. Someone elsewhere says that he's letting the blood drain.
I see no blood and I see a head on afterwards.

11. Well OK.
It still doesn't explain why brainiac there thought it would be a pleasant place for an interview.

Seriously, I've slaughtered animals myself...it doesn't mean I like to be around it when it's happening or like to think about it.

Oh wait...It's Sarah Palin....never mind...

10. Well, the tub is red, so I'll believe them.
And we know the turkeys go in alive and come out, well, not so alive.

16. The thing is basically a big funnel over a vat.
The turkey's head is jammed through the hole in the bottom and whacked. You can see the guy tossing the head into the vat that probably goes to making turkey hot dogs. Anyway, he has to hold the turkey upside for a few minutes to let it bleed out. That's why he's just standing there looking like he's doing nothing. The curious part is why they're fuzzing out the top end of the turkey that's sticking out. It's the turkey's backside...I'm guessing other nasty things are going on at that end, too, as a result of the dying process.

I bet you're really glad you asked, huh? Hmmmm. Turkey!

It is nothing for the squeemish and it is a real job. Nothing fun. Entrails stink to high hell. Internal gasses and bile...Wash those innards kids! Otherwise your tripe soup is gonna be nasty!!! (It's nasty anyways.)

5. Don't rag on a working man.
He may be listening to the Governor's remarks. Probably so. He's also interested in the media people and their machines, which he has not seen much of. He may be surprised that he is in the shot, or he may not realized that he is in the shot. Like many people, he may realize that he is on camera and fighting the sudden urge to scratch his now itchy nose (it happens!). Maybe he's calculating how many dollars a week he can manage to save to put toward his child's or grandchild's college fund.

But no matter what, he is now a media star, something I don't wish on anyone. He's just a working man doing his job.

13. He's just doing his job.
A bit of info on the Triple D farm. http://www.alaskatripled.com/

As far as I know this is the first turkey-pardoning by a governor in the history of Alaska. Apparently, these folks didn't even know the governor was going to be there until the night before. What a strange, strange photo op for her. She's so clueless it's embarrassing.

18. Thanks for posting that link
Seems like a nice enough operation. Trying to raise healthier birds and all. As a small grower myself, I kind of feel sorry for them with all of the negative attention they are probably getting.

And what else would a turkey farm be doing 5 days before Thanksgiving? Having tea and crumpets?
