Siegelman story knocked off the media radar by Blagojevich coverage.
I caught several times this sound bite in which FBI big shot Robert Grant called Illinois the most corrupt state in the nation. "...if it isn't the most corrupt state in the United States, it is one hell of a competitor."

The guy didn't mention Alabama.

Not that there's a connection, or anything, but Gov. Siegelman's appeal was heard today.

Did anybody on the evening news roundup bring this up? Anybody on MSRNC, like Keith O or Rachel M, bring it up?

One story that's gotten near-zero prime-time coverage: Bush's Department of Justice is so corrupt, it must be automatically disqualified from any most-corrupt competition.

3. Yep. The evil forces in Alabama forced Blagojevich to commit much more interesting crimes. nt

4. More interesting than using the power of the Department of Justice to punish a political opponent?
That's the essence of the Siegelman case -- corrupt officials using their power to punish an innocent man.

Don't know about you. To me, that's treason.

30. No. It's treason to use the Justice Department to prosecute innocent political opponents.
Here's how Adlai Stevenson put it:

Corruption in public office is treason.

No matter what you spin it, the prosecution of Gov. Siegelman is treason.

21. LOL!
I think the Blagojevich issue couldn't wait any longer. I also believe that it will lead the way for people to accept what's coming with the Siegelman issue.

27. And media told us blowjobs were more interesting national matters than the warnings of global terror
networks being grown into major threats against this nation.

7. The ''case'' also serves to damage Obama's credibility.
Who knows? Pretty soon, Isikoff from Newsweek told Olberman, FBI investigators might be showing up at the White House.

11. So...he's been investigating corruption in the IL Executive branch for three years,
so he could nab someone with no connections to Obama a month after the election? That's a pretty dumb Evil Plot, I gotta say.

25. You are right. I listened to the radio this AM--guy said Hannity kept alluding
to Obama "lying" about having talked to Blagojevich. He said that Hannity kept playing Obama's statement about "I", "we" didn't know or weren't aware of the investigation. But Hannity was seemingly skewing that to imply Obama said something else and lied. Expect this crap to keep coming up no matter how baseless.

5. No I saw no coverage on TV
but I did make a similar comment on a thread where I said I was pissed that Blagojevich's crap would overshadow Don Sielelman's attempt to clear his name.

Funny how M$Greedia loves covering scandals like this one while ignoring the crimes of Bushco for eight years.

13. That is ''funny,''
The "free press" is the only business called out by name in the Constitution. The reason, the free exchange of news and information is essential for maintaining a free country.

Going by the way Corporate McPravda missed the Selection 2000 story, the ENRON Energy policy story, the HARKEN Energy inside trading story, the Bush-bin Laden family connection story, the 9/11-Iraq WMD lies story, etc. etc. etc. stories, it seems we no longer are free.

That's why DU and the Internets are so important. Who knows where we'd be without them?

15. Soon, we'll be hearing all about the bad Govenor and his known associate, the President elect.
Meanwhile, Wall Street goes on happily hoarding and disappearing $750 billion in cash, courtesy of the U.S. taxpayer, who are left holding IOUs for, what, $9 trillion more?

OT and most important: Thank you, MinM. I have never had the chance to properly thank you for your posts on the Dallas threads. Reading every one of your posts makes me smarter or feel better about keeping up the fight. I am working on a little thing on the subject that I hope to post in a couple of days. You have no idea how much I appreciate that you give a damn for the country and planet. Please accept my infinite thanks, MinM.

Rove's Second Siegelman

Reply to NY Times headline on Ill. Gov. arrest:

How interesting: Enron steals billions, Bush kills millions, and Ill.Gov. indicted for intent to commit a crime. It is OK to render grandma destitute, violate Geneva and Nuremburg Conventions and Uniform Code of Military Justice-- but don't try to make graft.

Cut budget for school lunches, leave wounded vets homeless on the street, betray and kill thousands in New Orleans and sell their real estate to hotels-- but don't let the FBI hear you plotting to make a buck illegally.

And all the REAL CRIMES, the crimes against humanity by the present president, go ignored by the Times, which is going bankrupt because the people won't buy the Bush lie. That's right. US print and video media going broke rather than report the truth about Bush.

If you ruin Prince Wiliam Sound, wait twenty years and the fine will be reduced to ten percent, steal two hundred billion from the Indians and no harm, no foul, but-- plot to commit graft? Shame.

29. The key element in Siegelman's nightmare is political motivation, isn't it?
And it wasn't mentioned at the hearing?

Outside the courthouse in downtown Atlanta, the former Democratic governor said he was disappointed the judges didn't ask about his contention that his prosecution was politically motivated.

Sweeping the crux of the whole matter under the rug gives me little respect for this panel of judges.
