There's a brand new blue dress in waiting...
The Justice Department and the US Attorney have nabbed a real slug of a criminal in catching Governor Blago of Illinois. However, there are a lot of questions about how this investigation started and why? And was the governor the initial target of the eavesdropping? Nobody trusts this White House or its Justice Department, even though Patrick Fitzgerald has been commended for his work. But, even then, no one knows what role the White House played in this investigation. We know the FBI did the eavesdropping.

Some people may think they were after Barack Obama in the middle of a hot campaign but were unable to pin anything on him. Otherwise, they would have done so. Governor Blago ended up being the target of opportunity rather than the target of choice?

Listening to the right-wingers on talk radio and FOX News, there should be no doubt that we are entering into another "investigative" period much like Whitewater and the Monica Lewinsky "scandal" that led to the impeachment of the last Democratic President. We can cheer the actions of US Attorney Fitzgerald but we should look over our shoulder at what is ready to happen?

2. Amazing how Republicans have no qualms about impeaching for anything...
...and Dems refuse to impeach even the most heinous crimes.

3. :::: yawn ::::::::
Those empty heads of the rightwingnut persuasion are so hard up for something to talk about, they're reduced to making things up out of thin air.

Oh, wait. That's what they always do.

Nothing's going to happen except that Rod is going to go away for a long time.

Obama's not involved, and remains untouchable, beyond reproach.

That should leave the drooling mouths screaming for quite a while.

They're such bad losers.......................................

5. What did they pin on Bill Clinton...
When they start the crusade, as they are starting to do right now, it only builds to a crescendo.

6. Ultimately it was Bill's poor judgment that got him in trouble.
But, even then he maintained high approval ratings and the impeachment failed to remove him from office.

If Obama keeps his nose clean, we have nothing to worry about.

7. Maybe we need to stop trembling in fear every time the
asshole republicans open their diseased little mouths. How about we all stop playing along? They got Clinton for lying about an affair, everything else they tried, failed.

9. I can just see the Washington Times now
talking about exchanging favors between Obama and Blagojevich.

The times has learned that in 2001, at an informal dinner between Obama and Blagojevich, Obama picked up the $30 tip, while Blagojevich in turn, paid for the $30 parking. It was later found that at a Cubs game in 1997, Obama bought the first round of drinks, and in exchange, Blagojevich bought the second round. "It's this kind of blatant tit-for-tat that gives all politicians a bad name" said Republican spokesman Slimey McWeasletooth.

It doesn't sound like these two even spent this much time personally interacting, though.

8. Was hearsay the basis for the warrant to tap his phone or bug his home?
Edited on Wed Dec-10-08 01:37 PM by ThomWV
You just have to wonder what the basis for the warrant was?

11. No doubt in my mind, Kentuck
The good part is PE Obama won't cow down to these sleezeballs like the big dog did. Mr. Obama has nothing to hide in his past to where he has to watch his every step so it will be relatively easy for him to call them out on every trash thing they come up with. He will not let the petty liars and theives derail his Presidency. Mr. Obama's cleanlyness, if you will, will allow him to take them head on and thats how he will do it. Obama's a good man, 'nuf said.

12. Yes, and it won't matter if there is anything for them to investigate or not, they
will be out to try to prove any rumor or whiff of scandal they can find. I can only hope that President-Elect Obama is as squeaky clean as many here insist because if there is anything at all to be found, it will be brought up. They won't hesitate to use lies and innuendoes in their efforts to discredit him.

13. One problem with that
it's kind of hard to enter into an "investigative period" when you have significant minorities in both houses of Congress. If in fact it was the Justice Department hunting Obama during the election, which I seriously doubt because I think Fitzgerald actually has integrity, they failed. Obama is clean on this, always has been and when the news cycle ends still will be.

A dirtbag was nabbed... ooops alleged dirtbag... and I think this could be a boon for Obama and the Democratically controlled House and Senate if they actually have the stones to rout corruption out of the Federal Government. Any serious success at doing it would cement their majorities for decades.

All they need are some good, clean, honest people at the top. I think Obama fits that bill, I'm a lot less enthusiastic regarding current leadership in Congress but hell, lets see what happens.

14. I think Blago's a proven dirtbag (the hospital thing alone); whether he's a criminal
remains to be seen.
