Poll question: If someone, one week ago, had asked you to
Edited on Wed Dec-10-08 05:12 PM by Occam Bandage
name the governor of IL, could you have answered correctly (with correct pronunciation?) Answer truthfully, please; this is anonymous and I'm very curious as to how far Blagojevich's reputation carried.

1. Correction: I thought his last name was literally Blago as I'd never heard his full name used.

I voted yes, tho, because I have friends here who lived in Chicago and have detested him for years.

3. Heck, even newspapers regularly use "Blago" in headlines. I'd imagine
a few Illinoians believe that there is a person named "Blago" in government.

7. Until I read "Illinois governor" I thought it was someone else.
I was late in finding out about the arrest but it took me a while to realize they were talking about the same guy.

4. I still can't pronounce that damned name
I always knew who he was but there is not a chance I could pronounce it right.

6. First time I was aware
of the guy was when he stood with the workers occupying that closed factory and forbade state offices from doing business with B of A. Initially I thought, good for him. 24 hours later he was in custody.

9. I think that's the case for many here.
Which, you know, is exactly why he did it.

10. To my knowledge, he never had been a friend of labor.
My friends, discussed above, never said anything about it--and they would have as one of them is IBEW.

11. I knew all about him through my brother
who lives in Southern Illinois (Carbondale), so his bad rep had traveled that far.

14. I often listen to the first hour of Stephanie Miller's radio show online
because it's not carried by any local station and Sirius XM only carries the second two hours. I've found the most reliable progressive station to listen to online to be WCPT in Chicago. I'd hear his name on their news breaks, so I got used to it.

Yeah, I could listen to her at her own Web site, but the commercials are even more repetitive than the PSAs that get thrown at me over and over on WCPT. Besides which, during the time they give local stations for news breaks, they play the riff from Tone Loc's "Wild Thing" over and over and over for about eight minutes. (I'm sorry, being subjected to that is true Gitmo-style torture.) Either I deal with that, turn it down turn it back up when they return, or I listen elsewhere.
