How much damage can Bush do in 36 more days??
Edited on Mon Dec-15-08 10:33 AM by kentuck
A lot!

Somebody needs to keep an eye on this draft-dodging and shoe-dodging criminal. Just as he made the ill-advised victory tour to Iraq, who knows what else is on his farewell tour agenda?

1. A lot, a shit load, a boat load, enough to crash the economy
oops, he already did the economy.

A lot, more than a dump truck full. Enough to fill the Orange Bowl, Sugar Bowl, Rose Bowl, Super Bowl.

4. Here's the damage he did in the FIRST 30-60 days.. beware, long list below:
(From my old "Bush's House of Horrors" site)

• Immediately begins "talking down" the economy after taking office. The "flashing light on the dashboard of our economy" speech. (scroll down and see what happens on day #60)

• Removes the "No Taxation without Representation" license plates from the Presidential limosine. (since Bush has no moral qualms about NOT being duly-elected to his office, proper "representation" is obviously not an issue for him)

• Signed an executive order repealing the abortion gag rule overseas so that women in third world countries will have less access to family planning and contraception as well as access to treatment and education about AIDS. When asked about this at the Democratic retreat, Bush proved he had no understanding of the rule or the devastating effects it would have on women and children.

• Appoints Colin Powell's son, Michael, to head the FCC (1/22/2001). On March12, he ok'd 32 mergers. Three days later, at behest of FCC, police raided Radio Free Cascadia in Oregon, seized the equipment and shut them down.

• Activated regulation on requirement for unions to post dues exception for political work; an attempt to weaken lobbying by labor, the most effective counter to big business.

• Turns back the clock on safety standards that protect families from potentially life-threatening contamination such as listeria and food poisoning. Orders meat safety regulations put on hold within hours of taking office.

• Delayed Clinton's executive order regulations on medical records privacy, with aim of weakening regulations to reflect insurance industry interests

• The famous 5-4 Bush Supreme Court denied equal protection to the disabled. State employees who say they suffered discrimination on the job because of their disabilities may not sue their employers for damages in federal court.

• Refused to adjust census, leaving out estimated 3 million minority and low income people; these people will not receive their share of federal funds for services. Obvious benefit to the Republicans, courtesy Commerce Secretary, Don Evans

• Repealed ergonomic regulations to protect workers from repetitive stress injuries (originally proposed by Bush I Labor Secretary, Liddy Dole)

• Passed bankruptcy bill lobbied for by credit card companies who peddle credit cards to teenagers

• Advocated drilling for oil in the ecologically sensitive Alaska National Wildlife Refuge

• Makes an example of a scientist who dared to map out wildlife habitats in ANWAR - fires him and scrubs his web page

• Top advisor, Karl "little Hitler" Rove moves to censor truth about Bush's arrest record and AWOL status - book burnings still occur, but Fortunate Son will be re-released.

• Advocated tax bill that will give a big tax cut to the wealthiest people in the country; the wealthiest 1% of the country will receive 40% of the tax cut benefit. Knowingly lies to the country about the budget and tax cut.

• Enlists lobbyists to dress up in hard hats and pretend to be "working people" at tax cut photo-op

• Signed executive order for faith-based programs which will erode the separation of church and state; runs the risk of discriminating among various religions

• Refused to help out California energy crisis with a temporary federal price cap, even though there is evidence that the energy suppliers are price-gouging California consumers

• Bombed Iraq , heightening terrorist threats to US, called it "routine" and did not notify congress or Israel in advance

• Bombed Kuwait (oops!) -An errant 500-pound bomb dropped by a Navy fighter over Kuwait today tore apart an observation post filled with military personnel, killing six and seriously wounding three others, American military officials said.

• Overturned Clinton administration rule, making it easier for industrial polluters to get government contracts by not holding them responsible for environmental damage. The government can no longer reject mining bids, even if they feel the project will cause irreparable harm.

• Introduces "Terrorist Elimination Act of 2001" (HR19)- a bill to repeal the ban on political assassination, courtesy Bob Barr

• The GOP introduces a Resolution to make sure everyone knows that the US IS NOT A DEMOCRACY! (We kinda figured that out on Dec. 12)

• A federal judge granted the Bush administration's request to halt processing of new claims for federal black lung benefits, so miners and their families will be delayed in receiving benefits.

• Proposes national testing and vouchers education plan to channel money from public schools to private schools.

• Undercut labor and workers by intervening in the Northwest airline mechanics strike at a critical point in the negotiations.

• Sabotaged the peace process in Korea at the behest of Reverend Sun Yung Moon, with the help of Rumsfeld. One must wonder about the connection between the Bush family and the Unification Church.

• Republican-controlled FCC dismissed claims regarding the "rats" subliminal ad ran against Al Gore.

• Responsible for deaths of Japanese students resulting from sub-fun ride for Republican contributors. Sets up sub commander to take the fall. Scarcely one month after the disaster, quietly resumes "joyrides for Republicans" on submarines. (the Lincoln bedroom never killed anybody).

• Responsible for false allegations of vandalism by outgoing Clinton personnel and widely exaggerated "gift" scandal.

• Made irresponsible comments after school killing in California, calling it an "act of cowardice".

• On the day of the Seattle earthquake, announces Project Impact (a highly successful earthquake-preparedness program implemented in Seattle) will be cut because it "hasnt' worked". There were NO fatalities in Seattle. Government seismologists credited the lack of fatalies to Project Impact.

• Secretly aiding and abetting criminal probe of former President Clinton by US Attorney in NYC after publicly stating it was time to "move on".

• With help from Bill O'Reilly, FOX News and National Enquirer, a full scale attack is launched in an attempt to obliterate Jesse Jackson and Rainbow/PUSH from the face of the earth. (and they wonder why 90% of blacks vote Democratic).

• Proposes suspending new environmental regulations on hardrock mining that were imposed on President Clinton's last day in office, over industry objections.

• Proposes opening up National Monuments for mining and oil exploration

• Revokes a Clinton administration rule that would have reduced the acceptable level of arsenic in drinking water, arguing the evidence was not conclusive enough to justify the high cost to states, municipalities and industry of complying with the proposal.

• Backed off on campaign promise to cap CO2 emissions, which contribute to global warming according to the world's top 700 scientists. It is later learned this policy decision was routed through a Bush aide who lobbied for car exhaust firms.

• Moved to lift Clinton's orders banning logging and road-building in about a third of the nation's national forests and reversed course on a campaign proposal to regulate carbon dioxide as a pollutant.

• Proposed scrapping the Public Housing Drug Elimination Program, saying it has had ``limited impact'' and that ``regulatory tools such as eviction are more effective at reducing drug activity in public housing.''

• Proposes budget that would speed Medicare insolvency by 15 years

• Media blacks out Civil Rights Commission report charging widespread voter disenfranchisement - who controls the media?

• Rejects first formal opportunity to help fix election problems, even though Bush initially called for repair of system. The White House turned down a request from the Federal Election Commission (FEC) for $5.5 million over two years to beef up its Office of Election Administration. It then cut 1.4 million from the FEC budget.

• Reverses his campaign promise and stays mute as OPEC plans to cut oil production - uses the leverage to manufacuture scare tactics regarding the energy "crisis" and drill in ANWAR

• Brother Jeb wants to take $1 million away from family planning agencies to fund "chastity education". Straight from the Christian Coilition/Karl Rove handbook

• Proposes program that would mean the demise of Black Universities

• Gives Ambassadorships to largest campaign donors as payback

• Dumped the last of President Clinton's judicial nominees, including Roger Gregory, the first black appellate judge in the circuit with the most minorities in the nation. Officially withdrew 62 executive and judicial nominations made by Clinton in his last days.

• Moves to sever the American Bar Associations vetting of judicial nominees, insuring extremist right-wing appointees for the courts. Bush to ABA: Take a hike.

• Names two Iran-Contra criminals to diplomatic posts - John Negroponte and Otto Reich.

• Kick starts cold war with China over plans for national missile defense. China says Bush could launch "new arms race"

• Kick starts cold war with Russia over plans for national missile defense system.

• Kick starts cold war with North Korea by implying they are not living up to "all agreements" (we only had one and there was no evidence NK was not abiding by it)

• Organizes a new drive to lean on major corporations and trade associations to hire Republicans for their top lobbying jobs

• Begins the attack on women's right to choose

• Intervenes with subterfuge to make sure McCain-Feingold never sees the light of day. Republicans try to drown the bill with amendments.

• Nudges McCain out of the bipartisan Patient's Bill of Rights (five years in the making with universal support) and substitutes the Breaux-Frist plan, which would expand access to health care but limit patients' rights to sue HMOs for malpractice. Promises to veto any Patient's bill but "his". (The bill is patterned after the Texas model, which Bush took credit for but in fact, fought and refused to sign. It was passed by the Texas Legislators)

• Turns Air Force One into a traveling road show to promote his tax-cuts and agenda while spending five hours working on the budget

• Uses right-wing gun lobby group to defame war hero and former POW John McCain one day after campaign-finance debate starts. Accuses him of "collaborating with the enemy" and calls him "the Manchurian candidate." (warning: for any decent American, this vile attack is tough to read - but that's Bush main strategy and appeal: to mean-spirited, hate-mongers)
• Supports obsolete space-based missile defense system while backing off on promised budget increases to the military
• Plan Columbia - the next Vietnam?

• The Supreme Court 5 (yeah, same ones) strikes down employees right to sue by giving employers the right to force worker arbitration. Justice John Paul Stevens (gotta love that guy!) writes a dissenting opinion in which he accuses the majority of "playing ostrich" to the legislative and historical context of the arbitration law and its consequences.

• The Supreme Court 3 (Rehnquist, Thomas, Scalia) attempted to enforce drug testing without consent for pregnant women. Fortunately, the other 6 prevailed and moved to curb drug testing during pregnancy.

• DAY 60 - March 21, 2001 - DOW closes at 9487. NASDAQ at 1830.23. In the 2 months since Bush took office the DOW is down 10%, the NASDAQ is down 33%, and the S&P is down 16%. (Opinion: This steep decline in such a short period reflects not only a lack of public confidence in Bush as President but also investor doubt regarding the plans of the Bush administration. Betcha can't wait for the next 60 days !) Outbreaks of Mad Cow and Foot&Mouth Disease have spread across Europe to the Netherlands, causing the destruction and incineration of hundreds and thousands of livestock. First reports of FMD suspected in New England as Federal agents swooped down on a farm in Vermont, rounding up 200 sheep. Bush still can't speak proper English.

• Declared about six Russian officials persona non grata for alleged spying activities, will ask 40 more to leave, allegedly in retribution for Robert Hanssen spy case - 3/21/2001

Let's not forget that. She is complicit in everything that George "Two Shoes" Bush has done for at least the past year

9. A lot. Particularly if he lets Cheney near the "football."
At this point, the major agenda of the Cheney administration and the GOP seems to be to burden the incoming president as much as possible so as to prevent any domestic social agenda from being implemented.
