How about Jeb Bush? Y'all up for that asshole serving in the senate?

Yeah, Caroline Kennedy - she's spent a large portion of her life contributing absolutely nothing to humanity... right?

:sarcasm:

1. I don't think folks are saying that there is something that disqualifies her
The debate is about relative qualifications when compared with other people.

7. Well, in that case, which of the other more qualified people
could do more to bring attention to the problems of New York?

Which of them could pick up the phone and get Obama on the line?

Which of them would be instantly recognized and respected as a junior Senator?

Which of them has the ability to raise campaign funds not just in the state, but across the country?

Which of them has the support of Ted and Robert Kennedy, Jr. ?

8. I'm uncomfortable with the automatic advantage she has and is happy to exercise
over other candidates that stems primarily from her name. I don't have anything in particular against her. I've always liked her persona. I probably like her politics, considering how close she is to Obama, from what I've heard. We could do a lot worse. But can we do better?

On the one hand, suppose Paterson chooses someone of less star power. That person might have to work a lot harder for reelection, whereas Kennedy has built-in reelection power by virtue of her name and place in American society and history. From a Democrat's standpoint, you can't do much better than Caroline Kennedy.

On the other hand--what about from a social standpoint? Can't we do better than keep the Senate in the hands of a few families? Can't we put a person of color in there?

I'm glad I don't have to make this choice.

3. She doesn't have as much experience as Ted Steven or Blago.
Experience counts, dontcha know.

(She's fully qualified to be a great Senator.)

4. How qualified was Hillary?
Come on.

Caroline is qualified, and she will serve a
very distinguished and hopefully liberal
philosophy that puts people first over
corporations.

5. As far as I can tell,
her biggest disqualification is that she is not Hillary or an official FOH.

6. The PUMAs want someone who supported Hillary in the primaries...
...and believe they have the right (which they don't) to dictate who gets her seat. Sadly, the primaries are still being fought.:(

9. That appears to be true.
I'm frankly bothered by the idea that the entire partyis expected to be ever vigilant and mindful of what is deemed by a few people to be Hillary's due or her feelings.

15. I kind of see it as her picking up the flag for her Uncle and Brother
I know JFK Jr. never held office, but I think we all have a little bit of that "What might have been" feeling tugging at our hearts.

16. Awkward framing.
In the age of * and Palin, an argument implicitly based on constitutional minima fails.

I'd be more interested in what makes Kennedy the most qualified.
