When the Iraqi people can talk freely to reporters without having a 150,000 armed to the teeth soldiers and another 150,000 bloodthirsty mercenaries listening to every word they say?

And then there is the problem of the bodies. Just going with the conservative estimates of over a 100,000 Iraqis killed that still leaves one hell of a mess. If it is over a million ... I don't want to think about that.

Anyone else been thinking about this? Or should we just cross this bridge when we get there?

1. That depends on when and how we leave
So far the Obama administration is promising to be aware of the needed diplomatic solutions that will be required to bring back American respect throughout the entire region, let alone the whole world.

2. You think Obama could do or say something to get them to forgive and forget?
I don't know?

3. I hope so
His, reported, mission to Arab nations will be a big step. If he can sway the majority of people in the middle east he may defuse the radicals among them.

7. Forgive and forget? Not likely.
Blunt outright hostility because the new guy really IS different, just maybe.

I think that's the best we can hope for.

4. Probably about the same things the Dutch said about the Germans when they left.
Or, the French, Danes, Czechs, Poles, Russians, etc who were similarly "liberated".

And, probably similar to the things the Afghans will say about us when we finally give up on that other lost war.
