I bet Bush doesn't help "the big three"...
I remember the day when the media announced that the bailout for the auto manufacturers
failed to pass in the Senate.

The market started to tank, early that morning. It was evident that we were in for a rough
ride that day. Then, right before the markets opened, word came down from the White House--
and was filtered through all media--that Bush would offer some kind of bailout to these
companies.

Call me cynical, but why would Bush care about the automakers? He detests middle-class
people and has even more contempt for unions. I kept wondering why Bush would something
so decent and normal. It seemed out of character.

Call me cynical, but I think Bush's pronouncement about "Help is on the way!" served
one purpose---to prevent catastrophic losses in the stock market. He doesn't want
this happening on his watch. He wants the full-on devastation to happen after he's
ducked out the Oval Office back door.

I'm betting that he eggs on the media, the automakers and the rest of this country--just
to keep the house of cards propped up for a few more weeks.

He's engaging in this lip service because it serves his own interests--and in the end,
he'll do nothing meaningful for the automotive companies or the people who work there.

4. No he is trying to prop up the stock market until
Obama takes office so that the RW nitobs can blame Obama. If Bush does bailout the auto industry it would only be enough to last until early March just enough time for Bush to say it wasnt his fault.

5. His boss Cheney is behind it, he will. Cheney
was responsible for Bush putting tarrifs on steel. Steel gained Cheney's backing because of national security same goes for the auto industry. If there is ever a war with say China we will need a manufacturing base, we won't be able to buy tanks and guns from China and Cheney recognizes that.

9. Great point, never thought about that,

so he gets what he wants again. When he first took office the steel industry had similar problems, the industry agreed to consolidate, shut down capacity and also drop pensions and health insurance for retirees. I suspect that will be another price the Big 3 will have to pay. I heard this morning that GM and Chrysler are talking merger again. Also Paulson was the brains behind the steel restructuring deal I believe. I would like to put a size 11 1/2 up his ass.

7. Cerberus's COB is Dan Quayle and Cerberus is known for destroying companies
Cerberus liquidates whatever they buy as in "leveraged buyouts". Cerberus's only intention is to liquidate Chrysler for whatever they can get. This was well known before Cerberus bought Chrysler and the deal should have never been allowed. Now that Cerberus is doing exactly what they've intended all along, TV land hysterics and propaganda whores are acting all surprised.

I think you're correct, Bush isn't going to stab Quayle or Cerberus in the back and destroy their intention to liquidate one of the "big 3". Bush will let the others fail as well, just for the fun of destroying Americans.

8. The employees were seeing the signs clearly when Cerberus
purchased Chrysler. They had no intentions to try and make the company profitable.

10. I could see it going either way
I wouldn't be surprised if no help comes until Obama is president. Bush doesn't care about the industry. Maybe he'll punish Detroit/Michigan for never voting for him (we even picked McCain in the 2000 primary) by letting our main industry go down. But he doesn't want to ruin his "legacy" even more than he already has so maybe he will help. I don't know what will happen.

11. Judging from Bush's comments today...
...that he's unpopular because he's so big and brave--I don't think he gives a shit about
his legacy. After all, his legacy is the opinion of the minions--people who are too stupid
to understand how wise and courageous he is.

This is a man who thinks that we're insects. He doesn't care what we think of him. He's
brilliant, in his own assessment---and that's all he needs to get through the day.
