Lieberman Panned In Poll, Admonished By State Democrats

U.S. Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman was rebuked twice Wednesday — first by poll respondents and then by the Democratic State Central Committee.

A Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday gave him and U.S. Sen. Christopher J. Dodd their worst approval ratings in the 14-year history of the poll.

Lieberman's performance as senator was approved by 38 percent of voters; Dodd's approval rating was 47 percent.

Then the Democratic committee voted to send a letter admonishing Lieberman, who was re-elected as an independent but remains a member of the Senate Democratic caucus, over his campaigning for Republican presidential candidate John McCain.

A lousy sanction (which is only a slap on the wrist) was too much for state Dems to handle. Now they meekly got up the courage to whisper "that was not nice Joe".
