Or if your doctor opposes abortion rights, or if your doctor doesn't like anything created with stem cells. Or, I suppose, even if your doctor doesn't like black or brown people. I guess these are all questions that we have to ask our doctors now before we even try to receive care. Heaven help us if we're injured and bleeding at the time.

Thank you, President Asshole.

The Bush administration today issued a sweeping new regulation that protects a broad range of health-care workers -- from doctors to janitors -- who refuse to participate in providing services that they believe violate their personal, moral or religious beliefs.

The controversial rule empowers federal health officials to cut off federal funding for any state or local government, hospital, clinic, health plan, doctor's office or other entity if it does not accommodate employees who exercise their "right of conscience." It would apply to more than 584,000 health-care facilities.

... The regulation, which was issued just in time to take effect in the 30 days before the change of administrations, was sought by conservative groups, abortion opponents and others as necessary to safeguard workers from being fired, disciplined or penalized in other ways.

... Although the Obama administration could reverse the rule, it would require a lengthy process. Last month, however, Sens. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) and Patty Murray (D-Wash.) introduced a bill to repeal the regulation legislatively.

3. That rule should be the first thing he reverses
If you can't do your damn job, find a different line of work!

It's easy to avoid doing abortions, go into a different specialty. It's easy to avoid dispensing birth control, don't work in a dispensing pharmacy.

Easiest of all is realizing that your job description contains neither the word "judge" nor the word "jury."

7. Actually this law will be struck dead by the new Congress
According to NPR changes in law at the very end of an administration are subject to Congressional review.

14. would you really want someone treating you who doesn't "like" you?
If I knew my doctor was that set against "me and my type"for whatever discriminating reason I would shop around for a new doctor. While I understand what kind of door this could open (as far as the federally funding part) I don't have a huge issue with peopple being guided by their own morals which is what I try to do everyday.

Don' t like a product or a business' practices then I don't support it and it doesn't get my money
