What is the mechanism in the Senate to challenge Harry Reid's Majority Leader position?
It is well established (on DU anyway) that most of us would like to see Harry replaced. A nice guy, but sorely lacking in teeth. Real change would mean new leadership in the Senate as well.

I'll confess to being in the dark on rules regarding his tenure. Can another Senator challenge his roll and place his/her name on the floor for a new vote? Or is there some protocol in place which provides that the Senate automatically vote on their leadership at a set time?

1. Have Mitch McConnell stare him down
Works every time.

2. They already voted. One would have to wait until the next session is seated in 2011 to challenge.

3. I was afraid of that...
Too bad Senators live in their own little bubble, when (I'm assuming) a majority of their informed electorate give Harry low marks as majority Leader.

Did they vote recently?

Thanks :hi:

4. I think that is
a large assumption. The large majority of Democratic voters are not nearly as far to the left as many here at DU are.

I believe they voted yesterday.

5. It's done in the Democratic (majority) caucus
That was last month.

Otherwise, the best way to do it is to elect more Republicans and we can have Mitch McConnell instead.
