49. And that's all he did, right?
It was just a simple difference of opinion with Moore, I mean it's not like he used his TV bully pulpit to lie about universal healthcare on behalf of his corporate paymasters or anything like that.

54. I still fail to see the felony.
He has his opinion, and Moore has his. Does disagreement with Moore constitute a crime now?

Or is it now automatically considered a lie and a felony to disagree with the opinions of DU members?

I may not agree with Dr. Gupta all of the time, but he has the right to his opinions just as I do.

56. I think Obama made a great pick with Sanjay.
Sanjay will be a great mouthpiece for the ideas and values of the Obama administration. He's got a great TV presence, he's quick on his feet, highly intelligent, and he's very adaptable.

He's also a role model for southwest asians, and that's important, too.

68. Which begs the question...
What job did Mike get? I must have missed that announcement...!

It's all so silly. I suppose Evil Sanjay is going to bamboozle poor Barack into doing things he doesn't want to do, or something!

If people want to support the President and his agenda (all that hope, change and believe stuff) they'd better get onboard and have some faith in his cabinet picks, instead of nitpicking before anyone even starts work. They'd also better start acknowledging that Obama is either in charge, and knows what he's doing, or he's being controlled by unnamed demonic forces that make him pick administration officials who are unacceptable to Michael Moore!

Sanjay will do what Obama tells him to do, or he'll lose his job. I mean, isn't that how it works?

Obama wasn't my primary choice, but he got the job, so he'll get my good wishes as he starts off down the road. I'm not minding most of his cabinet picks so far--I think he's choosing a capable crew.

The only thing he's done that really made me say :wtf: was that Warren Invocation thing...but I suppose he's tossing a bone to the right with that, or something. I think he could have found another way to mollify them, but that's me.

57. Sigh
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, they are not entitled to their own facts. Gupta presented false information in order to kill universal healthcare at the behest of the pharmaceutical companies that pay him. I can't decide whether you are being deliberately disingenuous or whether you are one of those Alan Colmes style liberals who is so afraid to take a stand that if someone made up terrible lies about you, you would simply shrug your shoulders and simper "of course you're perfectly entitled to say that".

FELONY??????? JAIL???????

You are going to have to prove that he "presented false information in order to kill universal healthcare at the behest of the pharmaceutical companies that pay him." If there was proof of that, I really, really think CNN would have fired him.

64. There is a difference between
deliberately presenting false information and discussing mistaken information.....but then, you have probably never made any mistakes, so you may not know about that.

As for the felony part....the post to which I originally responded spoke about jail time.

Do you not think that 1)CNN would have fired him if he deliberately LIED to promote the interests of big Pharmas, who PAY him and 2)The President Elect has not had discussions and/or looked at his record before naming him?

I mean, I know, he didn't consult with DU or Michael Moore before choosing Gupta,so I guess that is cause for rejecting him alone, huh?

75. "Gupta presented false information in order to kill universal healthcare...."
Did he present this false information in testimony to Congress? That's a felony.

Did he flap his gums and "opine" on cable news? That was his JOB. No felony.

Gupta is not an oracle--no one is "required" to submit to his views. He's a guy who was paid to jawbone on TV--a personality. And you'll have to come up with the videotape of him "conspiring" with Big Pharma, while they handed over the hefty check, with a purpose to "kill universal healthcare" in order to make your case.

Calling someone an "Alan Colmes style liberal" who "simpers" suggests that you are a bit short on argument, so you're resorting to name-calling and characterization.

That's never helpful, to your argument or your reputation.

65. Sanjay Gupta attempted to discredit Michael Moore in the Mainstream Media
And then when Michael Moore stood up for the facts, presented his data, Gupta continued to try and diminish the facts by mixing apples and oranges. Misinformation in the public media is criminal in my book, as it causes an environment of distrust to all media. Polmaven would like start a flame war from a straw man argument.

I do not see using the words "Fudge" as being appropriat coming from Gupta, especially when he just finished apologizing to reporting 25 instead of 251 due to a typographical error.

Whoops, sorry I reported this on national media, and I can't be reaponsible if the public doesn't see my apology tomorrow.

No, the damage had been done due to either malice, neglect, or incompetence, yet, Gupta goes on to assert that he has no connection to advertisers or Big Pharma, yet the people that supplied his information were lobbiest's for Big Pharma.

Sure, technically speaking he has no contact, but his producers sure do. Who is Sanjay Gupta to actaully assert some ethical responsibility when it ultimately came down to realizing that he picked on the wrong guy, Michal Moore, who knows hows to do research, check facts and stands by his word. Gupta on the Larry King Interview was fighting for his career, and looked surprisingly like a two-faced corporatists, amiable to whatever party is in vogue.

6. I put this on before but thought it was worth another go - Anyone remember Sid Rosenberg Norm's Cus
Edited on Wed Jan-07-09 04:18 PM by 1776Forever
Yes Sid Rosenberg is Norm Coleman's cousin! What a piece of work he is and this seems to run in the family.

Here is an article on him - Used to be Imus in the Morning Sports caster:

http://phillytalk.com/talk-radio/talk-radio-people/sid-rosenberg.html

Sid Rosenberg, probably the most singularly untalented "man" in radio today was let go from the Imus show for his comments on breast cancer. Here is some of the coverage.

June 8th, 2005

I have issues with ... Sid Rosenberg

Sid Rosenberg used to be the sports sidekick on the Imus in the morning show, heard locally on 860-AM. That is until he made what has to be the most brainless and insensitive comment on breast cancer ever uttered on radio ... or anywhere else on the planet for that matter.

Sid has never been a favorite of mine. His mindless and generally clueless sports banter contributed little to the show. His off the cuff remarks ranged from claiming that Venus and Serena Williams were better suited for National Geographic than Playboy. His expertise in tennis was reflected with this comment ... "faggots play tennis." and female soccer players are "juiced up dykes." WOW, what a font of information. The high point of his career on Imus was challenging producer Bernard to a boxing match where he got his face smashed for 3 rounds.

All that was eclipsed last month when the show turned to singer Kylie Minogue's breast cancer. Sid, in a fit of utter stupidity delivers this line ... "She won't look so pretty when she's bald with one tit." Really nothing needs to be added here after that. Anybody that thinks that's a good line to deliver on the radio is beyond help. With IMUS running a camp for kids with ... get this .. CANCER the writing was on the wall for Sidiot. He was pulled from the Imus show but amazingly still has his midday show.

......

Sick, Sick, Sick! And Rosenberg used to flaunt that Norm was his cousin on the Imus Show - boy bet Norm loved that!

45. Coleman looks like an ass from any perspective
1. If taken at face value, Coleman has to believe fewer than 2000 ballots can help him erase a 255-vote deficit. Compare this to the 2.8 million ballots that were scrutinized and recounted to gain roughly 450 votes for Franken. Not likely. He also has to think the court - or a panel of appointed judges - will ignore state law to admit his 650 PROPERLY rejected absentee ballots, ignore state law to disenfranchise 133 voters whose ballots were counted on November 4 but lost before being recounted and/or ignore that Coleman is asking to overrule the rulings of the canvassing board (which inspected entire ballots in order to determine voter intent) by focusing only on the markings made in the senate race part of each ballot. Conclusion: Coleman is a delusional ass

2. It could be that Coleman doesn't expect to get a full or partial recount but is hoping to improve his chances of winning (currently 0%) by tying up the process and either forcing a coin toss (50% odds) or getting our Republican governor to decide (100% odds). Conclusion: Coleman is a scheming ass

3. Or it's possible that Coleman knows he's lost and just wants to set the stage for six years of bitching and whining by paranoid freepers, propaganda outlets like Fox "news" and the media echo chamber that the election was stolen, hoping it can be mined for public sympathy and campaign ammunition in the future. Conclusion: Coleman is a scheming, meanspirited ass
