I suppose that's the way the law is up there, but wouldn't it be better to go to the legislature? Like it was supposed to be done by the house in 2000 for Bush and Gore.

After all, senators weren't even elected until after 1913. The legislatures picked them.

1. Nope, they won't. A three judge panel decides
The Chief Justice would appoint the three judge panel, except he just recused himself and allowed the duty to fall to Football Hall of Famer - Alan Page.

2. Thanks. I edited my post.
But the premise is still valid.

3. Alan Page will be scrupuously fair
Even though it is fairly well known that he has DFL sympathies, Supreme Court elections are non-partisan...and Page will act that way!

7. Maybe it bothers you because you don't understand what they will decide?
What do you mean by "will decide Franken/Coleman"?

8. Thought Al won?
Did he not win by enough votes to declare a winner?

10. It doesn't bother me at all. This is not FL or OH. MN has one of the best and fairest
election processes in the nation. Period. Not perfect, but one of the best. If FL had been as good in 2000 as MN, then Al Gore would have been elected without question.

In any endeavor conducted by humans there will be a margin of error and as I understand it the closeness of this election was smaller that the margin of error of the process. I am betting that if any national or statewide election was recounted regardless of the margin of the win the same problems would occur that have in MN. Sometimes people screw up and make mistakes and that includes the voters. Not everything is a grand conspiracy that some like to make out.

Franken will be much better off in allowing the process to entirely play out under MN law.
