Washington's and Jefferson's Revolutionary War was a flop...

Look at all the problems it caused:

It was very controversial...many people were Royalists and unhappy with the disruption

It took a long time to 'do'

Many people died

Many businesses were severely affected

They failed to produce a Constitution for many years

They failed to deal with the Native American population effectively leading to future wars

They failed to appreciate the differences between North and South leading to the Civil War

All in all, a disaster...

2. I assume this is in response to Britt Hume's scholarly discussion of

the New Deal. Mr. Hume was able to uncover some new facts which were made up in just the past week. He was then able to analyze these 'facts' with the mind of a man who reacts to a disaster by raising the price of drinking water so high that most victims would die of thirst before they could pay.

3. Actually I think a good argument could be made that the Revolutionary War was unnecessary.

The mistakes of course were not all on either side though. Like most wars, both sides made some miscalculations which led to war.

It is also probably true that most colonists were opposed to war early on at least and were indifferent at best to the notion of independence from Great Britain. However, polls were hard to do in those days given that the telephone had not been invented yet so it is hard to tell.
