PARISIAN ANNA

IS Anna Wintour going to give up Vogue magazine to become Barack Obama's ambassador to France? Page Six Magazine - which assesses the state of Wintour's two-decade reign in this Sunday's issue - asked a transition team spokesman and got a "no comment." The mag says the fashion world is buzzing over the rumor that Wintour might leave "with a guillotine glee akin to that which preceded the death of Marie Antoinette." But one fashion source dismissed the prospects of her purported replacement, French Vogue editrix Carine Roitfeld: "I don't see how you could give it to Carine. She barely speaks English."

and the whole stable of reprobates (Pat BUCHANAN, BARNICLE, Dick MORRIS, Oliver NORTH, Gordon LIDDY, et al.) who our crack media deem suitable to pontificate on the topics of ethics and morals.

I'll take Cindy ADAMS over any of those. And when Kitty KELLEY was in her prime, she delivered the goods on the RAYGUNs and SINATRA. She was considered to be such a threat that I believe the B.F.E.E. strong-armed her publisher and the media to get her to pull her punches in her book on the BUSHes.

But just for the record, the Page Six dude, a GOSSIP, clearly labeled this item as a RUMOR. And then delivered a delicious put-down quote at the end.

I've been mining the NY gossip circuit for political tidbits for years. More often than not they turn out to be true and are broken MUCH EARLIER than all the "respectable" venues. Something akin to gathering raw intel instead of cherrypicking.

3. She's done a lot more ...
She inspired Johnny Depp's look in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!

If that doesn't qualify you for ambassadorship ....
