So how many times a day do you say or think "we are so, so screwed in this country"?
Notwithstanding the joy of the impending disappearance of Bush and Cheney and the thrilling inauguration of Obama....just hearing about what friends are going through, reading or listening to the news - just extrapolating from where things are using our senses to see the direction of things.

My wife and I just walked the dog. We had our coffee together today. Then our afternoon tea. My wife was at her bookclub. At each instance, something came up where the only response was "everything is a mess and we are so screwed".

And...my wife and I tend to be optimists!

4. We are SO screwed!
It's just a constant in my everyday
life and mind.

I have to actively seek escapism
to stay sane.

8. Many times a day I think we sure have our work cut out for us
I don't think we're screwed at all in the sense that theres nothing we can do. I ascribe to the bigger they are the harder they fall doctrine.

10. Yep. Several times a day, and that probably isn't enough.
Biggest unemployment increase in one year since 1945? Yes, we are "screwn."

11. half the time after reading the bickering threads here.
So I decided to just ignore anything but real news threads here.

Can't stand much more anxiety.
Even when The UnDead are far away from DC, I know they will be pulling strings.

I have noticed an increasingly compelling need for escapism movies and books.
I may have to burrow deep into that for awhile.

12. Things are getting ugly out there..
but hope springs eternal. Every time I think about how fucked up things are, I think I could be living in Gaza, or Iraq.

13. We are in a rest stop on the road to Democracy, but we could end up in fascism instead.
I believe we have to demand much more transparency, and start to take charge more as citizens. We seem to not have clearcut expectations of those whom we let into office. We wait for them to do something and what seems to happen is that other actors-Wall Street firms, neo-cons, self-styled experts, and billionaires are quick to fill the void.

It pains me that so many citizens don't know the Constitution. It really is a short document and empowering if studied.

18. All day long. Trying to stop the tears welling up. I feel that what I feel is horrible
for my health and I worry about the consequences. I seem obsessed with the idea that we are really merry and living as usual and many, many innocent souls are rotting in prisons in Iraq - Diego Garcia - Eastern Europe - Zimbabwe? Who knows - they are all over the planet and only the pilots of the Leer CIA jets and the guards and those in charge of torture supplies know.

No representation. No justice. For secret prisoners - able bodied men yanked off the streets so they couldn't fight back and they may have a tiny nugget of information? bs to reasons - there intent was to make all the new pipelines secure. It is extermination of souls.

Katrina.

And now refugees of Palestine - bombed and burned with nearly all the leaders of the world and nearly all of Congress applauding it. Our leaders ARE APPLAUDING!

Nor can we begin to consider and fathom the number of our innocent own who are going to be killed in the future from emotional acts of revenge.
