Verdicts on the Speech?
My opinion: very good, though maybe not superlative. A few of the stretches were a bit mundane and it didn't quite have the awesome power of some of Obama's previous speeches. It was more subdued.

But much of it was very eloquent. And I wonder whether the text is better than the delivery, which was a little bit flat.

Overall though I'm still really excited. This is such an unbelievable day.

4. When Lincoln gave his Gettyburg and Inaugural speeches `
neither were greeted as being great at the time.

I think his speech will grow on people after some time.
I thought it was great.

5. Weak compared to his others... but WHO CARES???
President Obama holds the reins of power now, and I for one am breathing a big sigh of relief. I could care less that his speech was weaker than his others (and a tad awkward).

It was however, pretty fun to see the human side of him when some of that nervousness seeped in and things went awry. It was a fun time, and I'm very excited to see what he has in store for us all.

Gobama!

9. In that he didn't seem as comfortable in his delivery...
as he has in his other speeches. LOL, personally I think the whole screw up on taking the oath rattled him a bit. Seemed like he wanted everything picture perfect for history's sake and it started with a pothole in the road.

As for me, I like that better. Makes everyone up there look more human. I think a lot of people have trouble remember that those folks aren't any different than you and me... well maybe a few more opportunities and a lot more money. *laugh* But they are human beings.

It was a great inauguration.

11. This was no 2004 DNC.
That's because other people are writing it for him now. These are no longer solely his words. He wrote the 2004 speech himself, IIRC.

12. I'd like to order up some original Obama then! (laugh)
I'd love to see him go back to some authentic Obama then. He's a better writer than his handlers.

8. I Could Have Done Without the Doom and Gloom at the Beginning
I guess it was there to underscore the "we can work our way out of this" stuff, but that all could have waited until Saturday, IMO.

:P

You never know what will ring throughout the ages, but on top of that, I don't think anyone could have lived up to the immense expectations.
