3. I wonder who they voted for in 2000 and 2004
Edited on Sun Jan-25-09 07:18 PM by ikojo
and whether those votes were made right in 2008? They are reaping what laissex faire capitalism, championed by Democrats AND Republicans, has wrought.

The guy who said "we are losing sight of what my son died for" is wrong...wars are fought to further corporate domination. His son died for that.

It doesn't lessen my concern for them but I doubt they see the connections.

22. I could easily lose my job and I have never voted for a Republican...ever.
I guess I really don't know what else to say. This sucks and no one knows for sure how these people voted. I don't blame them for their fate.

10. True but my humanity still can't
bear their suffering. At least one recognized that the country had become Ground Zero and he wanted America back. Yes they should not have cheered on Bushco, but it's still painful.

25. I agree with you. As I was watching the segment, my thoughts were...
"Yeahh...I wonder who they voted for the past 3 Elections".

Will their answer determine whether or not I would help them?...NO
Will their answer determine whether or not I feel sorry for them? You damn Right....A large share of you idiots have brought all of us down.

no simple fix on the horizon. Organization alone doesn't create jobs or new employers.

12. This is the result of 8 years of Bush
policies. It's going to be repeated over and over in hundreds of communities throughout our country over the next year. Let's hope the repubs in the Senate can't block Obama's plan to prevent this from happening more than it already has.

20. It's not only Republicans who believe in complete
unfettered free trade, Bill Clinton championed NAFTA, GATT, the WTO and PNTR (permanent normal trade relations) with China. Some of the people Obama wants in treasury are champions of deregulation.

19. I'm glad they exposed the COBRA scam
It's a useless 'benefit' that people who have lost jobs simply can't afford. The prices charged under COBRA plans are truly shocking.

26. The middle class does not hold the solution either
Even Obama mentioned in the inaugural address that we may have work less hours to save the job of our co-workers.
In theory pay cuts and hour reductions may indeed help, but it's not the fault of the American worker for the situation we are in.
It's kind of like telling us, "we threw you all enough crumbs, fight it out amongst yourselves".
The obvious disgusting truth is that a handful (in proportion) of thieves took an inordinate share of the pie.
A CEO who got away with, say $75 million, could have taken a healthy $10M and the rest would have saved thousands of middle class jobs.
Now, we will take the pay cuts that they should have. We will work less hours if we're lucky enough to work at all. And we will, once again, take on the cost of repairing our union.
The thieves will ship their ill-gotten gains to the Bahamas or elsewhere and them and their heirs will never know an hourly wage or a 40 hour work week.
