1. Wow. I 'get' it, but am not crazy about that picture for some reason.
Interesting. Maybe it'll grow on me.

2. I'm pretty much satisfied as it has been said earlier to have two
count 'em two constitutional scholars in the two top positions in this government who were elected by the majority of the people... and not selected by Katharine Harris or the Supreme Court.

5. I agree!
What a refreshing change...

People actually qualified to run the government, and honestly and openly elected!

What a concept!

He wears it well!

Now what would Washington look like with a buzz clip, that's what I want to know!

8. My dear CaliforniaPeggy!
Washington, the Adamses, Jefferson, Jackson, Lincoln, the Roosevelts, Wilson, Truman, JFK, Obama...

So many great Americans (and others) have led this country through thick and thin, and it's very hard for me to believe that Obama has risen up to join the ranks of those select few who have been called President!

It hasn't sunk in yet that he's our............

President!!

9. My dear UrbScotty!
I hear you!

I'm still coming to grips with that fact too...

And every time it hits me, I feel this incredible joy!

He really really did it!

He is our President.

10. He's not showing his teeth.
I guess that's to make him look more like George Washington, who had terrible teeth and always hid them.

In real life, President Obama smiles a lot.

12. Washington had terrible fake teeth...
They were uncomfortable and he hated to have people see them...

I think they were wood, but maybe they were ivory?

I just don't remember...

:hi: my dear babylonsister!

14. Washington wore neither wigs, nor wooden teeth. The truth is actually much stranger.

From Wiki:

"As a young man, Washington had red hair.<66><67> A popular myth is that he wore a wig, as was the fashion among some at the time. Washington did not wear a wig; instead he powdered his hair,<68> as represented in several portraits, including the well-known unfinished Gilbert Stuart depiction.<69>

Washington suffered from problems with his teeth throughout his life. He lost his first tooth when he was twenty-two and had only one left by the time he became President.<70> According to John Adams, he lost them because he used them to crack Brazil nuts, although modern historians suggest it was probably the mercury oxide he was given to treat illnesses such as smallpox and malaria.<70> He had several sets of false teeth made, four of them by a dentist named John Greenwood.<70> Contrary to popular belief, none of the sets were made from wood. The set made when he became President was carved from hippopotamus and elephant ivory, held together with gold springs.<70><71> The hippo ivory was used for the plate, into which real human teeth and also bits of horses and donkeys teeth were inserted.<70> Dental problems left Washington in constant discomfort, for which he took laudanum, and this distress may be apparent in many of the portraits painted while he was still in office, including the one still used on the $1 bill.<70>"

15. Thanks for your input...
And how terrible he had so much pain all his life...

In spite of his discomfort, he still accomplished so much that it would put modern folk to shame...

But living up to that promise will be quite a feat, under the circumstances.
