Blago coming up on The View in a couple of minutes
I can't help myself. I have a full blown case of train wreckitis going on. I feel like anything could happen when he appears live. Anyone else going to tune in?

3. I can't not watch
I thnk the guy is in the midst of a full blown break with reality. I know it's not very nice of me, but I find it fascinating.

5. That's funny. Barbara Walters is sitting in an HD box set at the edge of their drop-leaf table.

They have her on-screen so her image is sized to match the others. It's like a high tech seance.

7. And Heeere's Rod.
Babs doing background and introducing him. Now asking Rod question about his comparing himself to Gandhi, etc. Says his comments were taken out of context. Of course.

9. I heard Rod has some offers on the table
His media blitz might be to position himself for a career of some sort to protect his family. He is in major legal debt. He knows he is toast.
I understand he and his wife have even been offered a 5 day a week radio show on WGN radio here in the Chicago area.

15. While I am making
an effort to not watch him, I have seen a few clips of his morning road show. There are several things going on. First, he is not a well man. The comparisons to Gandhi, Mandela, and King are diagnostic. Second, the corporate media is exploiting the entertainment value of his theater of the absurd. The only question is at what point the media will make the decision not to grant him the stage, as he appears to have the very real potential to self-immolate on live tv.

24. I could either change
the channel when he comes on, walk out of the room, or just turn off the tv. So I share in the responsibility, in the sense of watching it.

I think that the reason you, I, and others do not has more to do with the utter lack of responsibility on the part of others, who are in very different positions which could allow them to do something to possibly change the outcome. The media has to decide if they allow him access to speak. Certainly, his situation is "news." But how they cover it is up to them.

Second, I suspect that others who converse with him away from the camera recognize that there is something going on with him. I believe that family, friends, and his attorneys have to be aware that he is under great stress, and is not doing well. At what point do they decide to try to intervene?

28. I suspect an intervention has been attempted
It would be pretty routine for his lawyer to have attempted one before walking out. And his wife appears to be distancing herself. Perhaps she fears for her daughters. And really, it's better that they not be exposed to him right not. It's upsetting and confusing for small kids to see a parent behaving in certain ways.

This will not end well for Mr. Blogojevich. I just hope it doesn't end the way it did for that PA politician. Sooner or later, Blagojevich is going to crash. I hope there are people there to pick up the pieces and get him help.

21. I think it was largely because of the previous corrupt repuke who's now in
prison. And yeah, it seems the Illinois electorate is pretty bad when it comes to electing govs.

His opponent the last time comes from a town literally run by the mob.

All Illinois politicians are just turds in the same bowl.

20. He just said all he wants is the chance to prove his innocence. Yet,
there he is, in New York instead of at the Illinois Statehouse, where he is opting to forego that very opportunity.

That guy is weird and confused.

22. Joy asked him to do his Nixon impression and then mussed his hair
This is the craziest thing I have ever witnessed.

It's off the hook.

This man truly believes that somehow his media tour is going to rally the American people behind him.

He is Exhibit A of someone with full blown narcisstic personality disorder. He needs to be studied by psychologists.

He's a nut with cojones. Something out of a Carl Hiaasen novel.

29. Where's the love for Blago?
I hardly ever post here on DU, but this whole situation is really bothering me. The Legislature has always been against Blagojevich. It seems they've wanted to impeach him for years (both Reps and Dems.) I voted for him twice, as did almost everyone I know.

I like the things he's done or tried to do for the poor and middle-class -- KidCare, free public transportation for senior citizens, universal preschool, prescription drugs from Canada, etc. Yes, he's a showman, yes, he's a "politician," but I truly do think he cares about the problems of the poor and middle-class because that's where he came from. He sticks to his guns and many in the Legislature have never liked that. Programs for the working class don't score them points in their wealthy, suburban districts. Just my opinion, as a middle-class downstate Dem.

BTW, I thought the ladies on the View were somewhat condescending toward him.

31. He's no different than he was 7 years ago
when he was first elected. I think it's unfortunate that so many people here (and elsewhere)are jumping on the "He's Crazy" bandwagon, without looking at what's led up to this "impeachment."
