Obama's taunting of Limpbaugh is brilliant!
He is making Rush the voice of the Republican party. Think about that. El Rushblow now speaks for the opposition. He has stated his desire to see Obama fail. He is a traitor, speaking for the Republicans.

This is delicious.

hour and a half to rationalize "Obama is scared of me"... and if the elected republicans really did listen to me Obama would not be president.

Then his backpedal over hoping Obama fails. I think he got a talking to over that and armed forces radio.

he doesn't like to get called on his shit. Eventually he will make a racist misstep in responding to Obama. (he hides his bigotry under the thinnest of veneers and has already been fired for it more than once.) Then we will have an opportunity to get rid of this overblown zeppelin.

At that moment, the satellite feed went dead, and the question just sort of lingered out there as a presumption.

and said something like "'Rush Limbaugh Republicans' probably don't want to support President Obama's Economic Recovery Plan because they want him to fail."

Really pissed off the Republican talking head. LOL. Sputter, sputter said he.

partisan squabbling, but it may have been part of a campaign to identify Republican obstructionists with Rush Limbaugh. Pretty clever, particularly with Limbaugh's recent "I want him to fail" comments.

I forget his name but he's such a nauseating apologist for all things bush and GOP - really drinks the Kool-aid. Gargles with it every morning and probably bathes in it.

I'm sorry. I'm being cruel. I should be more diplomatic and inclusive. I should be one of those ready to "reach out" to the other side. Well, I'm not. I have no sympathy or consideration or gentility toward him or anyone else on that side at this point. Not after the years of grief and misery and bankruptcy and blood and death and pain and stupidity and divisiveness that they've caused! I feel nothing but cruelty, contempt, and disgust for all things republi-CON - who refuse to acknowledge what the voters decreed last November, who insist on being allowed to call the shots or to have any further say-so or to present their "ideas" and their lame-ass views about fixing our economy - the same economy that their "ideas" and their lame-ass views BROKE in the first place.

I don't know why we should be listening to any of these weenies anymore. They had their say. We all had to get down on our knees and swallow hard and say "thank you sir, may I have another" - for YEARS. Eight years of bush. Since 1994 when the republi-CONS took over Congress. Even farther back, to 1981, when reagan got in and first parked us on Selfish Street. We all had to stifle and strain and struggle and yell til we were nearly dead-tired, trying to make ourselves heard. They ignored us, laughed at us, shut us out and called us names, demonizing us and isolating us and painting us as anti-American domestic terrorists and traitors. And if you'll recall, we were usually 100% correct about whatever it was, like the WMD, Iraq, FISA, the Patriot Act, Gitmo, torture, what it REALLY means to support our troops, mukasey, roberts, alito, gonzo, endless nauseating idiot tax cuts that never helped anybody who really needed the help, trickle-down economics, the need for accountability and transparency, EVERYTHING. EVERYTHING!!! We were correct about EVERYTHING and THEY were WRONG ABOUT EVERYTHING!!!

So why do we still have to make a place at the table for them? Or listen to them any longer? Or pay them any attention whatsoever? Or heaven forbid, even give a moment's consideration to their idiotic, lame-ass, selfish, greedy, shortsighted "ideas"? So they can keep us on their Train to Hell?

Sorry. If they don't like being labeled as "rush limbaugh republi-CONS," then let's see them repudiate him. Anybody hear anything along those lines? Any of them abandoning their precious hate-radio stars?

I think it's a VERY good idea to start calling them what they are. Let's not mince words anymore. Let's call them the "rush limbaugh republi-CONS" and "Obstructionist republi-CONS" and what they do on the air "Hate-speak." Let's be honest and open about it and call it what it is. And if it makes 'em sputter, TOUGH SHIT. Truth hurts, after all, and it's about time they started getting reacquainted with that idea - truth. We owe them one. A BIG one!!!

10. Well played, sir
It's about frickin' time we put Rush's ugly mug on the Republican brand. So what if Limbaugh has 20 million listeners (a figure subject to serious debate, and not everyone who listens to Limbaugh agrees with him)? The Republicans have played it both ways for years, using Limbaugh as their foil or cat's paw when it suits them, but denying that he's anything but an "entertainer" when things get too serious. Billboarding his odious rantings and ascribing them to the GOP forces the Republicans either to adopt Limbaugh or reject him. No more of this sickening "Fourth Branch of government" nonsense.

That number is the weekly cumulative from Arbitron. That's 6 shows (including the Saturday rebroadcasts), so the number is really more like 3.5 million.

If a Republican EVER says "well, Rush doesn't speak for me," simply fire back with "well, he did for the last 15 years, why you throwing him under the bus now? Is it because of his 'i want obama to fail' comments?!?". Then watch their head spin...

President Barack Obama

Speaking to Republican leaders, whom he had invited to the White House to discuss his $825 billion stimulus package, Obama took a shot at acid-tongued conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh and his followers, saying, "You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done."

To quote:

"The reality is that President Obama enjoys something that President Bush never had: his party controlling the House, the Senate and the White House, which makes it a lot easier to get a measure through Congress. "

Ummmm, really? Are you sure about that? Cause last I checked we had a Republican controlled house and senate from 1994 to 2006, and a Republican president from 2000-2008. I think that amounts to SIX YEARS in which Republicans controlled all three branches, but hey, it WAS two years ago so how can the media be counted on remembering it...

36. I disagree
Rush may brag, but in reality he's being set up for a big fall by President Obama. Obama has effectively forced the GOP and the Republicans in Congress to respond about the innuendo that they're actions are dictated by Limbaugh. They will now distance themselves from Limbaugh taking away 99% of his power. Obama didn't throw the gauntlet down at Limbaugh's feet. He threw it down at the GOP's feet

51. Yes, and it gives all the demoralized Republicans something to grab
I got an email yesterday, directing me to site "I hate media" or something, and he went on and on about how Obama mentioned the limpdick.

I guess when Fox was tight with Bush and Cheney was OK. Or when they were going after Dan Rather and the "liberal media."

54. I stand in awe of Obama's genius
Edited on Mon Jan-26-09 04:02 PM by DearAbby
He has now placed at the feet of the GOP...will they defend Rush, or denounce him? Obama has seriously punked the GOP...they are backed into a corner.

CHECK, your move GOP.

Edit to add...any obstruction by the GOP will be seen as an attempt to make Obama fail. This was a brilliant move on the part of Obama. I stand in awe.

56. Obama is brilliant. He sets traps for fools. He's constantly 2-3 steps ahead of everyone...
... INCLUDING DUers.

He has painted these assholes into a corner.

So let's go thugs... time to show your cards. Are you for Rush or against him?

64. It is indeed!
I wonder why the Incompetents, who make up the ranks of the GOP "leadership," have stayed silent on Limpball's comments (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=4898865&mesg_id=4898865 ).

I wonder if they'll stay silent now that the President has spoken out?

69. I enjoyed sending my email out today
to Rush's sponsors, letting them know that I knew they wouldn't really care, but much to my regret, I will no longer be able to patronize their businesses as their sponsorship of Rush after he wished our President -- and indeed nation -- to fail.

I reminded them that at this critical juncture, at war and a financial melt down, Americans needed to stand together, in support of our new President, whether we voted for him or not. I also reminded them that the world was watching, and it would bring great shame to the country to be seen as racist bigots of the sort Rush presents on his show.

I also let them know that I looked forward to the time when I could again purchase from them.

Tomorrow, I'll be using "Rush Limbaugh Republicans" in every other breath. :-)

you can't put lipstick on a pig, Rush:-) Cheers.

71. The republicans have to move away from Limpbaugh
further splintering their already scattered party. If our economy show any sign of life by 2010 we will see a three-peat of the Democratic Congressional slaughters of 2006 and 2008.

73. Pair him up with Ann Coulter
and it'll be even better. I've always felt having those two as the face of the republicans would be a gift to the Dems.
