John McCain says "no way" to Obama's first big initiative.

Way to do that bipartisanship shit, guys.

1. The person who looks bad is McCain.
Obama must always be congenial, respectful, etc - it makes the other side look worse if they do not respond in kind.

6. That seems to be the plan and I bet it works for him.
McWar is the same guy that said the fundamentals of the economy were sound so his judgment on the initiative is already not worth much.

2. Ah, but by doing all that...
Obama has taken, and will continue to hold, the high road.

And that is something the Republicans can never do.

It's just not in their makeup.

5. even when Mccain is "agreeing with Obama"
(re: closing Gitmo), he still says "He's MOVING TOO FAST, people don't want these terrorists in their BACKYARDS,etc!". I'm sick of the media acting as if McCain is going to be some ally in the Senate.

7. It's time for Obama to come out and remind people
that he had "hopes" that republicans would play fairly, but they have shown themselves to be the same petty partisans they have always been..and then remind people that these "fiscal conservatives" are the VERY ONES who got us into this mess, and he was offering them a chance to REDEEM themselves..and they refused.

Then he should just play hardball and roll them..

8. I'm beginning to wonder (hope?) this is the plan
McCain is not interested in compromise....he is pissed that Republicans (even after the tax cuts) don't have that big of a say in the package. Uh, seeing as how the country as a whole rejected you, Gramm, Fiorina, the rest of your losers, I'm fine with you counting yourself out in this argument, McCain.

9. Congratulations to Obama for doing the right thing..
he gave Johnny a chance, and Johnny decided tax-breaks were more important than anything else. Maybe Johnny's constituents will hear from him, but I doubt it.
