Fundies: Lawmakers Must Consider Gawwwddd's Law in order for Democracy to survive
from the No. 1 news source of Christian Dominionists everywhere, the American Family Association's OneNewsNow:

Democracy, God's law go hand in hand
Pete Chagnon - OneNewsNow - 1/26/2009 8:30:00 AM

The author of a new book is claiming that democracy and divine law must coexist.

David Novak is the author of In Defense of Religious Liberty (Intercollegiate Studies Institute, 2009), in which he argues that society will only remain democratic as long as it protects the free exercise of religion. He explains his stance.

"Thomas Jefferson said in the Declaration of Independence we are endowed by our creator with certain unalienable rights. How are we endowed with these rights?" Novak asks. "Well, we are endowed with these rights because we have sense that there's certain moral norms that are universal that came from God when God created the universe and created human beings. And therefore this is a strong foundation for why these rights cannot be taken away from us -- because they are God-given."

Novak says those who work hard to remove God from society do so because they are appalled that there is a higher authority than themselves.

"And therefore if there is a higher authority, that means that everything is not permitted -- and it means that we are...subordinate but responsible creatures in the world," says the author.

Novak contends that lawmakers should not disregard what the Bible has to say about issues.

1. First off
Jefferson said, "endowed by THEIR creator..." not our.

I agree this...subordinate but responsible creatures in the world,
However, it should refer to protecting the environment, instead of the destruction of the environment in the name of wealth which the fundies have supported

A free exercise of religion should be permitted, as should a free non-exercise of religion and free exercise of non-religion

3. Their God's law, of course.
For democracy to survive the wall between religion and state must be strengthened vigorously and often.

4. In a Democracy you get to vote on whether God has the Power or not.
Talk about an Oxi-Moron Does a vote of the people overrule God?

5. I recall something called "the divine right of kings"
Where religion was explicitly invoked to give monarchy the ultimate stamp of authority.

That's the thing about religion. Although it is supposed to represent ultimate truth, in practice it is totally malleable to the whims of human beings.

6. If divine law is so high on democracy,
then why is every heavenly realm a kingdom?

There are no votes in heaven. God rules and the souls of men are consigned to eternal servitude.

Why would democratic populaces bow to the authority of a heavenly dictator? Since when is dictatorial authority higher than democratic authority?

Fuck god, and fuck the myth he rode in on.
