But don't you wish that you could confront the 'Lifers about making sure that baby after he or she is born has access to "the best health care in the world", a good education; perhaps free throughout university like many other Western Industrialized Nations, or a life without poverty or violence?
These are things that all of us can give this hypothetical child.
Oh, I forget, that is what Jesus is for.
I wonder if anyone has ever asked the 'Lifers what they would do to prevent a rape or incest that could conceive an unwanted child. Protect the lives of women who are in danger from men who prey on them.
If that rape or incest is prevented, so will that prevent the need to end the pregnancy?
Oh, I forget, that is what Jesus is for.
What about women who have decided to have their children, but medical conditions have created a situation which would endanger the life of the mother unless the pregnancy is terminated? No expectant mother should ever have to make such decision, but this is the conclusion arrived at by her and her doctor. I wonder if the 'Lifers would comfort a family who lost a mother a child because necessary medical care was outlawed.
Did the 'Lifers support medical research that could help all mothers safely give birth to the children they wanted?
Oh, I forget, that is what Jesus is for.
I wonder if the 'Lifers could do everything in their power to help people prevent unwanted pregnancies through education and access to contraceptives.
Surely, that would help lower the rate of abortions?
Oh, I forget, that is what Jesus is for.
The thing is, and I know that they won't listen if you told them so, that everything that they stand for helps to create more abortions and not to help lower the rate. They are their own worst enemies. That by being intractable, they are creating a much worse situation. That by disrespecting the lives of women they are disrespecting life itself. Don't ask them to even consider respecting women. It'll be as if you required them to consume a plate of feces.
These people are rage addicts, they have to be outraged at something, otherwise they'd have to actually think. The problem is that they can't think for themselves...
Jesus does all the thinking for them.
