"Well, Clinton (or someone else) did it"
Quite frankly, I'm really tired of that bullshit excuse. It seems that bush campaigned in 2000 on being above all the stuff that Clinton was involved in. Purity and all that. Once, just once I'd like to see someone, anyone, who is a republic party member take responsibility for their actions. For instance, Janklow in South Dakota (or North Dakota) killede a guy on a motorcycle because he (Janklow) ran a stop sign and was speeding. Did he take responsibilty? No. Did Cunningham really and truly admit to being a crook? Not yet. And when is Foley going to admit to being a pedophile?
Now this U.S. Attorney thing. "Clinton did it too." Yep but he did it at the beginning of his term, not six years in. Now Clinton certainly was not a perfect guy, and the republics knew it. So they hounded him from before he was President until his death, most likely. But to keep on saying "Clinton did it" is not only lame, but it is childish as well. Like moms and dads tell their kids, "If everyone was doing it,(maybe jumping off a garage) would you do it too?" One thing Clinton did do, he testified under oath. I think that should be brought up every time the excuse comes up. " Yeah Clinton did it. He testified under oath. When will bush do the same?" Watch the 30 pct. go "er...ah...um..."

1. Clinton didn't do it too. There wasn't a Patriot Act to abuse. Big diff.

2. That's why I think we should stop referring to these firings as being "political"
I understand why the term "political" is being attached to these dismissals. They were part of a political strategy to protect political figures in the Republican Party from investigations and also to put better little Bushie soldiers into US Attorney positions.

But I think that the Democratic Party's repeated use of the term "political firings" might ten to make the general public think that this is JUST about politics and nothing more. This is about potentially breaking the law and subverting the legal process. That's why I think we need to be talking about probable cause to investigate the Bush Administration for criminal activity, not for just political activity.

To circumvent the "Clinton did it too" argument, we need to be talking about these firings more in terms of crimes and obstruction of justice rather than just political motivations or partisan politics as usual, to which much of the public tunes out.
