How chimps communicate with a look
They could have saved a lot of time and money by just going here:

CHICAGO - The arch of an eyebrow or the curve of a lip tells chimps a lot about each other, a finding that may give scientists new understanding about the evolution of human communication, researchers reported Friday.

Human faces can be easy to read, but sometimes people must look in different places on the face to get an accurate picture.

“What we know from humans is that even a single movement added to an expression can change the entire meaning,” said Lisa Parr, director of the Yerkes National Primate Research Center at Emory University in Atlanta. “It can significantly affect the outcome of interactions.”

“There could be a whole realm of chimp communication we don’t have the capability of understanding,” she said.

7. Great photos but I have seen this phenomena between my dogs plenty of times
Edited on Sun Mar-25-07 08:39 PM by NNN0LHI
Both my male and female Keeshonds can be up in the bed having a great time with my wife and I and the cat, and all the female has to do is give a quick glance toward the male, sometimes out of the side of her eye, and the male is down off the bed and heading up the hallway looking for a spot for him to go to sleep. This is the second set of Keeshonds we have had (same cat) and with the other two things operated the same way as with these two.

I have have pretty much seen that same glance given to me by my wife when she has had enough of me and I instantly realized that I needed to become scarce and go find something productive to do like go outside for a smoke or something. I wonder if all husbands have seen that same look?

10. I think it's insulting to the chimps to compare them to W.
And that's not a joke.
