Poll question: If only Enron had managed to keep its thievery and scams going until today...
Since energy trading is such an essential function in maintaining civilization, Enron would have received $50 billion in bailout funds. Analysts would be predicting that more will be necessary, to stave off mayhem and disaster. No one would have been arrested, no one would have been convicted. Skilling and Lay would have stayed on -- with a stiff rebuke from some Congressional subcommittee. They'd be among those balking at the unfair and outrageous, indeed socialist suggestion that executive pay should be capped, or that there should be any provisions telling Enron how to use its god-given taxpayer bailout.

3. I think you're absolutely right. What is the difference between then and now?
The only thing I can think of this is:

If you're going to screw over your employees, fuck your investors, rape your investors, and drive your company into the ground --- do it at the same that a lot of other CEOs are doing it, and don't be dumb enough to go do it solo.
