COLUMBIA, S.C. – The highest-ranking black congressman said Thursday that opposition to the federal stimulus package by southern GOP governors is "a slap in the face of African-Americans."

U.S. Rep. James Clyburn, D-S.C., said he was insulted when the governors of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and his home state, which have large black populations, said they might not accept some of the money from the $787 billion stimulus package.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry said Wednesday he would accept the money, and none of the others has rejected it outright. The Republican governors of Idaho and Alaska also said they had reservations about whether the money would come with too many strings attached, but Clyburn said he was particularly taken aback by southern governors who said they might decline it.

1. "A spokesman for South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford accused Clyburn of playing the race card."
What else would a racist neo-Klansman like Goobernor Sanford say? It was a predictable as the sun rise.

Sanford's state is bankrupt. He must borrow money immediately from the US Treasury to keep the February unemployment benefit checks from bouncing. Sanford is a panderer and a pimp and a whore, as are his buddies Lindsey "Pretty-boy" Graham and Jim-Bob DimWit.

3. I was born and raised in South Carolina. Sanford and Lindsey G
are the deceptive faces of racism. They do nothing more than patronize people of color. They just want votes. They do not actually want to further the cause of anyone that is not white. This is a fact not heresy. I cannot say 'how' I know but one thing is said in front of people of color and another behind their backs. Being Caucasian myself I am sometimes in the presence of all whites there and the conversation is not polite. I do speak up when I hear hear racist comments. Because of the economy I know this happens in the State of SC related to real estate.
I was unique in that I was not raised to be racist. My Father was a lifelong Democrat and lived on a small farm during the Great Depression.

and it was interesting. The 4 States named above were talking about not accepting parts of the package, the parts that would help Districts that, coincidentally I am sure :sarcasm:, have a majority of black residents.

He reminded Wolfie that in one of the Districts in his State that the Governor didn't want to spend stimulus money on housed the school President Obama visited that was built in the 19th century and was in dire need of help.

Rep. Clyborn did an excellent job, imo, in pointing out the real truth behind the bullshit the 4 Governors were spewing.

4. Sanford is actually an extra special asshole.
He was taking the state into a depression no matter what the overall economy was doing. Ideology is everything. Jim DeMint is his buddy in this. Graham is a jackass, but he is not nearly as doctrinaire as the other 2.
Even the Rethugs in the state legislature can't stand him. In the last election, he had his own "secret" set of conservative candidates that he wanted to run and replace other Rethugs that he didn't like. He didn't get very far with that.
He can't run for governor again. I don't know if he will run against DeMint because that would really make the fur fly in the primary. Graham was just reelected. I don't know if he will try to go back to Congress. He will be an obstructionist no matter where he goes.

5. Of the three, DimWit is - by far - the most intellectually challenged.
Graham is probably the brightest of that toxic trio. Besides, Graham got 5 rugs for $5 at the Baghdad Bazaar .. that should count for something.
